Rev. Mike Winters Pastor Ben Harding Music Director Dr. Ray Jones, Jr. Pastor Emeritus WISE BAPTIST NEWS A PUBLICATION FOR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF WISE BAPTIST CHURCH December 11, 2018 A place for faith and fellowship with family and friends. Dear Church Family and Friends, The first big snowstorm. How did it affect you? Which items on this list apply to you? Loss of power, missed school or work, cleaning off your driveway or sidewalk, etc. When I looked at my driveway, I was not looking forward to the next couple of hours. No sooner had I begun shoveling, than a neighbor showed up on his 4-wheeler with a blade. Before I knew it, the driveway was clear. Did not expect it. Barely knew him. Angels can be like that. The word angel means messenger. Angels are messengers of God. Some famous examples are in the Christmas story. Luke s Gospel tells about 3 encounters with angels. First, the angel Gabriel tells Zechariah that his wife will give birth to John the Baptist. Next, Gabriel tells Mary that she will give birth to our Savior. Then, the angels greet the birth of Jesus in song. The Gospel of Matthew tells about an angel speaking to Joseph. Maybe, just maybe, angels sent from God, are at work around us and we have just not noticed. Has an unexpected word or act of kindness been expressed to you lately? It could have come from someone we know or from a total stranger. Take a moment to reflect on those angels God has sent our way. These angels can prepare our hearts to hear the Christmas story in a new way.
