Deserted white sand beaches, shimmering crystal clear warm waters, welcoming islanders, funky colorful architecture, reggae and restaurants. Hello relaxation! Bimini is made up of three islands, North, South & East Bimini, which together form its characteristic horseshoe shape, with a lagoon in the middle. Because it s the closest island to Florida (50 miles / 80 km), many boaters make the trip in a couple of hours and dock in the marinas for short stays, or use the islands as a base for deep water fishing trips. Surrounded by shallow reefs (20-30 ft.) near shore, sea depth increases to 80 to 100 ft. off the West coast, before dropping into the profound depths, over 6000 ft., of the Gulf Stream between Bimini and Miami. The Andros Barrier Reef (southeast of Bimini) represents the second largest reef complex in the western North Atlantic. Some say Bimini is home to the ancient lost City of Atlantis ; more recently the island was infamous as a favorite location for rum--runners during Prohibition. Today this gem of a playground has become known as the deep--sea fishing--capital of the world and the very best place, anywhere, to swim with wild dolphins. The horseshoe-shaped island is very narrow, so the Retreat Centre is only seconds away from stunning beaches, often deserted, where you can swim, sunbathe and take moonlight strolls. On the Retreat Centre s doorstep, nature treats us to a splendid sunrise every morning overlooking the bay, where our catamaran, DolphinQuest, is moored. Sparkling turquoise by day, golden orange by night, the waters in Bimini soak up your cares, leaving you purified and new.
About Our Retreat Centre The WildQuest Retreat Center is situated in the fishing village of Porgy Bay, complete with its own private dock for our catamaran DolphinQuest. The rooms are large, basic and very clean with modern furnishings. All are nonsmoking with a small fridge and airconditioning, most with private bath. Rooms are double occupancy unless a single is requested. The village is typical Caribbean funky and the people are very friendly. There are a few cafes and small stores for the local islanders needs. Bimini is a tiny island and supplies and choices are limited, so bring anything special that you may need. All rooms have air-conditioning, refrigerator and a hair dryer, most with private bath. Single, double and ocean view rooms are available. Food The food is generally all natural, mostly organic, simple and delicious. There is an excellent chef at the Wildquest Retreat Centre who prepares tasty, healthy meals. Breakfast usually includes eggs, granola, cereal, fruits, breads, juices, teas and coffee. Lunch usually includes salads and sandwiches, and is prepared as a picnic which we take with us on the boat. Dinners include a freshly prepared, scrumptious vegetarian dish and either a seafood or chicken entrée and a dessert. Coffee and teas will be available with regular milk as well as soy milk, almond milk and honey. Filtered drinking water, juices and iced tea are also supplied. Soda, candy and other basic items are available at the general store, which is close by. You can of course bring any special dietary foods. All meals are included in the program cost, except the optional Sunday night dinner in Fort Lauderdale, and the night out in Bimini.
Our Catamaran One of the things that makes our dolphin retreat so incredible and amazing is that we go out on a most lovely, luxurious catamaran, called DolphinQuest. It is Always Our Intention to Treat The Dolphins with Honor, Respect and Reverence and Sensitivity The Dolphin Experience We actually swim with the wild dolphins in Bimini. Our intention is to always honor and respect these animals in their home - the waters. We are very mindful to and aware that is it is important to undertake our swim with reverence for the dolphins and awareness and sensitivity regarding all of our interactions. We do not feed, chase or do anything that may disrupt their natural behavior. In fact, only at the dolphins invitation do we interact with them. Respectful, educational wilderness retreats like this are the preference of people wishing to experience these sentient beings in their natural environment...we have also learned from dolphins themselves, via telepathic communication, that they would prefer we come meet them in their natural habitats, rather than cage them in aquariums and zoos to meet them. We recognize that the dolphins are in charge of our experience. We are guests in their home. Dolphins in the wild are very tactile with each other, but they typically do not want to be touched by humans, so we do not try to touch them. That said, if they want to touches, they will. Their touch field includes their sonar and you may feel them touching you in this way. They are totally free sentient, sensitive, empathic beings and just by them freely coming this close to us is an act of trust, a privilege and a true blessing!
When It Comes to Communication Skills, Dolphins are Closer to Humans Than Any Other Species Meet The Dolphins And if you are able to free dive down towards the sea floor, you may just find yourself embraced in a swirl of Spotted dolphins as you dance your way back up to the ocean s surface. They also stay at the surface and connect eye to eye with us a very magical experience! The Bottlenose Dolphins are larger and stockier than the Spotted dolphins. they have more of a warrior like energy. They definitely have more shark bite scars! Over the past ten years, we have been increasingly invited to observe pods of Bottlenose as they crater feed upon the ocean floor. We swim with both the Atlantic Spotted Dolphin (Stenella frontalis) and the Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus). Atlantic Spotted Dolphins generally like to connect very closely with our human pods, in these warm clear waters surrounding Bimini. The are highly social and sensual with one another, and often travel in pods of mixed ages and genders. Curious youngsters swimming alongside protective elders may zip over with excited pink bellies to check out human pod members. Using sophisticated sonar to locate fish which are hiding under the sand, Bottlenose use powerful tails to pump their rostrums into the sand in pursuit of their prey. Rising to the surface then, to breathe, these dolphins may swim very close to sonar and connect with human pod members. Sometimes, we also witness amorous Bottlenose males mingling among energetic pods of Spotted dolphins, with successful breeding efforts resulting in hybrid dolphins that we like to call Spottlenose.
Our Human Dolphin Connection We plan to go out to the dolphin grounds Monday - Friday on our catamaran DolphinQuest, which has plenty of shade and space to move around and is also equipped with restrooms, a kitchen and dining area and plenty of lounge area, both in front and in back of the boat. We generally leave late morning and return at sunset in time for dinner, and we typically spend about seven hours on the water each day, weather permitting. Our experience is that we encounter the dolphins most days and have close, often very intimate connections, which are always extraordinary ~ these are special and sacred connections are always a magical and mystical; whether it s direct eye to eye contact or when you experience their sonar reading you, and providing extremely high frequency vibrational energy healing to you, your mind, your body. You will be amazed at how easy it is to experience such dramatic, and profound direct exchanges with these majestic, dare I say, intergalactic, beings... Retreat Overview Our retreats focus on Sacred Connection with and between one another, The Divine and the dolphins. During our retreat, we focus on the Ascension and awakening experience on planet earth. We actively learn about and practice animal communication and telepathy, we participate in live energy healing circles for the dolphins and for all animals globally, including pets and ourselves, and we learn about Ascension, awakening and The Shift of Consciousness which is well underway on planet earth. We also learn about the sunken City of Atlantis, The Gateways and Portals and major energy centers on planet Earth, the Crystals and how to use them, and so much more...
