An Update from Tom & Kaysone Chaleunsouk, the Laotian Family our church sponsored in 1980 Dear Friends in Christ, My name is Tom Chaleunsouk. In June of 1980, I, my wife Kaysone along with our 3 children, Thephone, Daovone and Saysamone and our grandfather, Phao, were sponsored by the Pease Christian Reformed Church to move to Minnesota. We lived in Pease for five years. There is where we grew close to the people and the community, especially Ed and Sophie Winters and their family. Over the years, we grew to think of them as our Grandparents. That is what we call them to this day. With the support of all the members of the Pease Church, we were able to start our new lives, in a new country. My very first job was at Droogsma Locker where I was a meat cutter. My family was able to start their education at church and the school. In 1985, our family became US Citizens, and I was offered a job in Dakota County as a Social Worker, in the welfare department. I worked there for five years assisting others, supporting them as they needed. Over the years, Kaysone and I held other jobs and had career changes, all the kids grew up and finished college. In 2000, I made the decision to attend seminary school to become a pastor through Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Seminary (WELS). In June 2005, I graduated and was ordained. Shortly afterwards, I received a call to become a Missionary in Thailand. From then on, Thailand is where Kaysone and I have lived. Here, I have been teaching at the Pastoral Studies Institute (PSI). My main focus has been to spread the Gospel, teach Thai men to become pastors, teachers and evangelists. Our most recent goal was accomplished in 2012 when we completed our church in Nongkhai, Thailand for our congregation to worship in. We have grown to 90 members, and work hard to keep growing the congregation and to have positive impact to the communities we serve. We are very blessed to have this opportunity to be here in Thailand. Please keep Kaysone, myself, our work, the Mission and our congregation in your prayers. In Christ, Rev. Tom Chaleunsouk
