Looking For n Infant King Christmas Songs for Children By aniel and arren Jones

Contents im 1. Christmas, Christmas, Christmas 2. Jesus is his name 3. T next door 4. lo od 5. Looking for an infant king 6. Fast Forward 7. Christmas, Christmas, Christmas We wrote these songs be fun, true the Bible, and true the meaning of Christmas. The original use was for a rock nativity in our weekly children / teens groups. With simple readings in between songs, the nativity s is ld is a way that is enjoyable but requires little preparation. Fast Forward puts the nativity in context, speaking of Jesus minist, death, ascension, and return, and it may be used introduce a brief epilogue if required. The first and last songs are the same make sure the set goes off with a bang! Sheet Music The sheet music provided is for guidance feel free adapt according the musical skills at your disposal. We were blessed with a violin-playing teenager in our group which worked beautifully on Jesus is His Name and added the atmosphere for T Next oor. Copyright and Terms of Use ll material here is arren Jones 2013. You are free use it, copy it, distribute it, print it or project it in any way that is helpful in presenting the true message of Christmas. You are not permitted pass it off as your own, and we ask that you credit Matheson Evangelical Church in some reasonable way. bout Us arren Jones is the pasr at Matheson Evangelical Church in Bromborough, Wirral. aniel is arren s youngest son. They wrote the songs in partnership in late 2013 for use at the children & teens groups at Matheson. For more information, see www.mathesonevangelical.org.uk.

1. Christmas, Christmas, Christmas This is a ve up-beat song open with, and the introduction of bells and shakers for the final singing closes the songs with a bang. Christmas, Christmas, Christmas Joy all the world Jesus has been born For eve boy and girl! Christmas, Christmas, Christmas ll the girls and lads Jesus born for all Even mums and dads It s Christmas time again Jesus born in Bethlehem Saviour of the world Friend eve boy and girl

2. Jesus is his name The songs are paced build in energy; this is a sweet song reflecting the amazing moment the angel abriel ld Ma the news she was bear od s Son. Ma, Ma, Ma I ve got some extraordina News give you day You re such an honoured lady You re gonna have a baby Listen what I have say The Son of od The King will reign Jesus is his name The Son of od The King will reign Jesus is his name Ma, Ma, Ma I know it seems quite sca To think you ll be a special mum lthough you are so lowly nd od is great and holy He s chosen you bear his only Son The Son of od The King will reign Jesus is his name The Son of od The King will reign Jesus is his name

3. T next door This is a count & western style song. The main part of the verse is spoken, ideally in an merican accent if you re brave enough! Think Johnny Cash (if you re old enough!). The T next door part is be sung by evebody, along with the chorus. Now Ma and Joe came Bethlehem nd they walked around till they found an inn But the innkeeper had tell them, T next door They tried some houses after the inn They were all full up - some census thing nd all they kept on hearing was, T next door T next door, Ma and Joe Keep hunting high and low We re sure you ll find just the place real soon T next door, Ma and Joe on t you ever give up hope This saviour child will get the perfect room Ma and Joe really needed a room This baby was going be coming out soon But eve place they went said, T next door Ma and Joe look hard all around Bethlehem was not a big wn nd eve door they knocked said, T next door T next door, Ma and Joe Keep hunting high and low We re sure you ll find just the place real soon T next door, Ma and Joe on t you ever give up hope This saviour child will get the perfect room So Ma and Joe went back the inn nd the innkeeper said, Well, here s the thing: I know that all you ve heard is, T next door I ve got a little stable, nice and warm Not much of a place for a king be born But walk this way and step through the back door. T next door, Ma and Joe Keep hunting high and low We re sure you ll find just the place real soon T next door, Ma and Joe on t you ever give up hope This saviour child will get the perfect room

4. lo od This song plays with a steady rock beat (think Status Quo). The chorus contrasts with the verse give a mental image of a sky filled with angels the rock beat gives way a rich, expansive sound... There were shepherds out in the fields Making sure their sheep were alright n angel in the sky appeared nd gave them all a terrible fright He said, No need be terrified Even though I am up here in the sky I ve got some great news for you all We re here tell you that the Saviour is born! lo od in the highest! nd peace on earth with od above! lo od in the highest! Who is this child show us all od s love? Well that was pretty strange news come down So they hurried all the way in wn Near Ma and Joseph they saw This baby fast asleep in the straw They ld them what the angel had said bout a Saviour with a trough for his bed nd eveone who heard was amazed nd the shepherds went back home and they praised: lo od in the highest! nd peace on earth with od above! lo od in the highest! Who is this child show us all od s love?

5. Looking for an infant king aniel wanted a tune that reminded him of camels and deserts, and we think this does the trick. o for a nice oompah / Egyptian vibe, and enjoy! We are wise men from afar on t need SatNav following a star Would ve been easier in a car nd we re looking for an infant king We weren t that wise oing the wrong place Herod wasn t happy Should ve seen his face! We are wise men from afar on t need SatNav following a star Would ve been easier in a car nd we re looking for an infant king Now we re back On the road again Looking for a king In Bethlehem We are wise men from afar on t need SatNav following a star Would ve been easier in a car nd we re looking for an infant king We brought gold Frankincense and myrrh Pretty weird gifts Caused quite a stir! We are wise men from afar on t need SatNav following a star Would ve been easier in a car nd we re looking for an infant king

6. Fast Forward This song is at the heart of the whole sequence. It s more serious in ne (you can let your hair down with a final rendition of Christmas Christmas Christmas afterwards). Here we wanted ground the nativity events in the his of the real man, Jesus. We wanted fast forward his life, death, resurrection, and return. This makes an excellent place insert a ve brief epilogue in the programme. Fast forward 30 years The child is now an amazing man The dead are raised and the sick are healed By him. Fast forward a little more No-one wants him be their king The soldiers mock him and the people roar Kill him! It s a long way from Bethlehem The perfect king killed by wicked men But now he reigns cos he rose again Our king Fast forward 2,000 years nd he still sits on the throne of heaven The love of od has been revealed In him. Fast forward on some more He s coming back just one more time To rule the earth and eve eye will See him. It s a long way from Bethlehem The perfect king killed by wicked men But now he reigns cos he rose again Our king
