Pastor McPike Celebrates 30 th Year in the Ministry Pastor McPike and his brother Randy McPike during the Reformation Service on October 28th Fifty co-workers, family, friends, and members of Immanuel Osman came together to celebrate the milestone in Pastor McPike s life-30 years in the ministry. The event was held on October 28 th beginning in the church at 5:00pm. Our talented organist, Alicia Haggin, planned a beautiful musical tribute for Pastor McPike, including an organ solo by Alicia, songs by the choir, and solos by Nick Haggin and Theresa VanWakeman Wilson. Pastor McPike introduced his guests, followed by everyone moving to the Fellowship Hall for the delicious meal prepared by Sandy Whitehouse, with assistance by her husband Lee and daughter Kaleigh. The speaker for the evening was Pastor Phil McGarvey, Department Head of Pastoral Care at Carle, who had worked with Pastor for sixteen years. A special poem entitled The Very Best Pastor Appreciation was read followed by Sara McPike reading several letters from important people in Pastor s life. Both Ryan and Sara McPike presented their father with a blue stole. Debbie Lammle and Sue VanWakeman presented the Pastor with a scrapbook of pictures and letters from co-workers and family. Several members and friends expressed words of appreciation to Pastor and shared meaningful stories. The evening concluded with singing the Reformation Polka and an expression of thanks to those who helped make the evening such a success! Pastor McPike, his wife Sharon, and his parents David and Sharon McPike Pastor McPike with his children Sara and Ryan

Benefit Soup Supper Thank you to all the members who volunteered in a variety of ways for the Benefit Soup Supper on Saturday, November 10. Approximately 204 hungry attendees enjoyed the soups, sandwiches, and desserts that were donated by our church members and community members. It was indeed a great outreach project for our congregation. At the present time we have collected $4098 in the freewill offering for our recipient, Kade Nichols. Kade is a sixth-grade student at Blue Ridge Intermediate School, and he is recovering from brain tumor surgery. The money will help Kade with expenses for his intensive therapy. $1831 was added to the collected amount from Thrivent Choice Dollars that our congregation has received from Thrivent members, so the grand total at this time is $5929. The groceries were purchased with a $250 Thrivent Action Team Card which was applied for by Dwight Hooker. It was a great evening of delicious food and fellowship as our members worked together to help someone in need in our community. A special thanks to Terri and Dwight Hooker, members of the Stewardship Committee, who organized the event. Quilting Project Thank you to the entire group who worked on quilts this past year by donating their time, talent, and materials. We sent 120 quilts to Lutheran World Relief. Special thanks to Terri and Dwight Hooker for the many hours they spent in sorting, boxing, and transporting the quilts. God bless you all for your selfless efforts! We will resume quilting in January with the dates to be set later. Thanks to everyone who made the pillow case dresses, another one of LWML s service projects during the year. Special thanks to Diana Zimmerman, Terri Hooker, and Connie Warsaw for boxing the 65 dresses that were sent to Little Dresses for Africa. We appreciate all your time and efforts in this very worthwhile project! Ladies Aid News The Ladies Aid will meet on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 12:00 noon in the fellowship hall for their annual Christmas Luncheon. There will be a short program and an $8 gift exchange. Husbands and guests are invited to attend.
