TEACHER and EDUCATOR APPLICATION INFORMATION Thankyou for your interest in applying for a position at Play Early Learning Centre (Play ELC). Please take a moment to read through the enclosed material before completing the application forms and signing any enclosed documentation. Your Employer Christian Outreach Centre, Australia Play Early Learning Centre is a department of Christian Outreach Centre Toowoomba. Other departments of the Campus include: Christian Outreach College Toowoomba, Citilife Church Who we are as a Campus We believe each person is created in the image of God and is not defined or limited by gender, race, religion, background or ability, but were born for more to dream, achieve and experience all they were created to enjoy through Christ. Service Philosophy for Play ELC Play Early Learning Centre is a part of the Christian Outreach Centre Incorporated Network of Churches (INC). Our service philosophy co-exists and stems from the mission, values, aims and philosophies held by the COC church and Christian Outreach Centre Toowoomba. Play Early Learning Centre Staff are committed to actively partnering with families in the celebration of their child. This celebration stems from a belief that each and every child who enters the learning environment is uniquely and individually created by God with varying gifts, talents and physical abilities and is to be highly valued, inclusive of gender, race, culture, abilities and background. As a Christian centre we do not discriminate against children from various faith backgrounds and while Play ELC welcomes both church and non-church going families, it is the families who through enrolling their child at Play Early Learning Centre, confirm they are supportive of our program that embeds Biblical worldview. This includes Bible stories, prayer and Christian worship as part of our daily activities. We see parents as an integral part of a child's learning and we work in partnership with families to provide the highest quality of care and education for their child. Play Early Learning Centre educators recognise that:

from birth, children are social beings, full of curiosity and imagination with the potential and desire to find connections and meaning in all they experience. the first five years of life are a time of incredible growth and learning and are widely recognised as providing the foundation for lifelong learning. While connections in the brain are made all through life, the rapid pace of brain development in the early years is never repeated. the experiences and relationships a child has in these early years, combined with good nutrition and health, can actually affect the child s holistic development enormously physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually. even from an early age, children are capable, competent, and reflective co-contributors to the learning process all children are unique individuals and will have their own rate of growth and development physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually. As a result of this, the role of our educators is to actively provide: a safe, caring and supportive Christian environment where all feel valued enabling them to confidently and actively engage, explore and inquire with people, objects and interests. a play-based, multi-sensory learning environment. Play is recognised as the best vehicle for young children s learning by providing the most appropriate stimulus for brain development and in encouraging children to organise and make sense of their social worlds. programming and planning in the early learning services that is informed and influenced by: - alignment with Early Year Learning Framework(EYLF), QLD Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG) and PYP International Framework - a number or philosophical theorists such as Vygotsky, Piaget, Brenner, Erikson - world renowned educational settings E.g. Reggio Emilia - current neuroscience and developmental research. an environment where children have a right to be heard, to be respected, and to feel a sense of belonging. the highest quality of care and education for the child by working in partnership with families recognising the integral part families are to child s learning. an ongoing commitment to professional and personal development ensuring that the highest quality care and education are maintained. an individualised and holistic approach that allows each child to be supported in their interests, developmental needs and individual capabilities physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual. A range of developmentally appropriate planned and spontaneous indoor and outdoor activities that encourage children to 'feel' the environment and to closely observe, inquire, explore, discover, investigate and reflect on the natural world around them. What characterises staff at Play Early Learning Centre? Play ELC caters for the education and care of students from 15 months to the year before Prep. The Play ELC mission is to provide excellent early years education and care within a Biblical Christian world and life view so that they are equipped to serve God and their fellow man. We recognise that the beliefs and experiences of an educator are communicated alongside the prescribed curricula. These are a part of the hidden curricula which infuses the culture and ethos of every teachers and educators classroom practise. Therefore, the nature of the Centre Mission necessitates that all of the Play ELC (including those serving in temporary or training capacities) are committed Christians whose lives are characterised by the following: 1.
