Mark 16:15 Since this is still a new format, I will simply remind you that TRBA has altered our newsletter format. Each newsletter is a two-month issue, so this issue is for June/July. Please use this to inform your church of upcoming activities and ministries. Expect updates electronically to share as well. This time of the year becomes busy with family reunions, much needed vacations, and most of our churches have VBS. Pray FERVENTLY for God to use VBS to permeate our communities with the Gospel. We ask that you share your VBS dates (so we can pray with you) and your VBS stories (so we can celebrate with you what God is doing in the communities we serve). Over 50% of professions of faith in the convention come as a direct result of VBS each year. This is not just some annual activity, it is a major outreach effort to the communities we serve as His church! If I have not spent some time with you (pastor and church leaders that are interested) talking about Link2Lead and The Mapping Center, you need to contact me and we can set a time to work through this together. In recent months, I have become convinced that IF the church really wants to reach their communities for Christ, there are four things that can get them well on their way. Those three things are, (1) the TCAT Assessment Tool, (2) Link2Lead, (3) The Mapping Center, and (4) a GENUINE desire to reach the community! If the heartfelt desire to reach the community for Christ is not there, we can stop there. However, if the desire is there, these will be a great help. Information and the TRBA strategy is spelled out on our NEW website www.tarriverbaptist.org but here it is in a nutshell. The TCAT Assessment is an online (can also be done manually) survey that helps determine the current reality of the church and what needs to be done in order to reach the established goals of the church. The Link2Lead is a FREE resource that tells you specifically the needs of the community where your church is located (and any place your church may be going on a mission trip). The Mapping Center allows you to assign areas to people committed to doing outreach in the community and provides names, addresses, and in many cases phone numbers to the people living in the shadow of your steeple. Utilizing these three tools, can revive the local church in its mission to be the church to the communities where God has placed you. I stand ready to help you in this effort and look forward to working alongside you in the days ahead! I want to take this opportunity to simply say THANK YOU! It is a joy to serve as your Associational Missionary and be a part of what God is doing in His church. KNOW you are daily in my prayers and that I solicit your prayers as I continue to serve in this capacity. All is Christ, Dougald

Church & Community Ministries Mission and Ministry Opportunities Joe Lively-Church Development Director joe@tarriverbaptist.com or 919-496-7172 Implementing the Plan By: Joe Lively Church Development Director Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19 Church Development and Community Ministries We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the 2012 Operation Food Roundup for the Baptist Children s Home. We collected over 20 boxes of food and $370.00 in monetary contributions. This local collective effort will contribute to the Baptist Children s Home as they serve over 700,000 meals this year alone. Thank you again for this generous support! As we move into the summer, please mark your calendars and begin preparing for the Back-to-School ministry. The Back-to-School ministry is a school supply drive in which we ask you to collect school supplies either as an individual, group or church which we will distribute to local schools within the area. Please check the website for a list of needs and dates in which to drop-off school supplies at the association building. Finally, we formally launched the new website, www.tarriverbaptist.org, at the spring meeting. Please check the website for information concerning ministries, dates, times and other helpful resources. I will post flyers and schedules that you can print and post in your church or pass along to groups or friends within your church. Thank you again for your support in all the ministries and activities of the association. If I can be of assistance, please call TRBA at 919-496-7172 or by email : Joe@tarriverbaptist.com Courageous Showing at local churches. See the TRBA website calendar for listings www.tarriverbaptist.org If you would like to show COURAGEOUS at your church please contact the TRBA office to schedule a time. TRBA has purchased the movie/license to show it publicly. Please send us your VBS dates to post on the TRBA Church Events calendar. We would love to hear about what God is doing in your community through VBS, mission trips, etc. Please post it on our facebook page.

The joint councils propose a 5 year partnership with emphasis on: 1. Local Mission Partnership 2. State Mission Partnership 3. North American Mission Partnership 4. CRUSADE! We are excited to let you know about a large scale effort of the churches of the Tar River Association to fulfill our mission statement of strengthening the church and impacting lostness. The pastors of many of the churches in the Tar River have been meeting for a few months and have begun preparations for a Tent Crusade on March 17-20, 2013 with Evangelist Dave Kistler (www.hopeministriesonline.com). Evangelist Kistler is a personal friend of Maple Springs Baptist Church and is truly one of the most talented and gifted evangelists in the entire country. With much prayer and work this Crusade could turn out to be one of the largest missional events ever done in our area! There will be numerous ways that we will need the involvement of all of the churches in our area. We will need counselors, security personnel, a prayer team, a finance subcommittee, a counseling team, follow up volunteers, as well as much other help in many other areas. We hope that you will pray about this event and get involved in the next few months as the steering committee begins to work hard at seeing this become a reality. Please call me or see your pastor to get involved in this great work. The fields are white to harvest, Jason Havens, Chairman, Crusade Steering Committee Praying for Message of H.O.P.E. CRUSADE!
