Announcements...7 Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people....a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:10-11 From Pastor Ralph... Here are three things I want to share with you about this Christmas. 1Focus on the meaning! God became one of us to make us one with Him (John 17:22-24)! He broke the barrier of sin that separates us from God, not only forgiving us, but freeing us from sin (Matthew 1:21). 2In this busy time, try to do everything for God s glory (1 Corinthians 10:31). Christmas is a celebration of God s goodness in sending His son. You can bake cookies, decorate homes, and even shop to God s glory as you focus on celebrating His goodness. What is your motive? In your heart, continually focus on preparing a celebration of Christ! 3Take advantage of the opportunity of our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. In the past, our focus on Christmas Eve has been on Harvest worshiping Him. But more and more unchurched people are coming to Christmas Eve services. Our church consultant writes that in the churches he s working in, 25% of those who join the church during the year are coming for the first time on Christmas Eve. Another sign that unchurched people are more open to come on Christmas than any time of the year! People are interested in tradition and looking for meaning at Christmas. If one family member wants to go, the rest of the family is more likely to join them. And many families are just looking for something to do on Christmas Eve. Be sure to invite your family and friends, and especially the five you re praying for to come to Christ! Put flyers at your workplace, hand out invite cards, and place the invitation door hangers (we ll provide) on the doors of your neighbors. I can t think of a better way to celebrate Christmas than to bring people to an encounter with the One we celebrate. This Christmas keep your focus on Him!
