WELCOME Welcome to Brooklake s Fall 2009 Connect/Small group guide! We would like to encourage every individual to connect, fellowship and possibly make a few friends within our church family. This semester we are offering a variety of different groups, from study to fellowship and interest groups to just having fun together. If you have never joined a small group and want to know more, we are here to help. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO EXPLORE A SMALL GROUP OR KNOW MORE ABOUT HOW TO CONNECT WITHIN BROOKLAKE, YOU CAN DO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: 1 Stop by our connect booth in the lobby 2 Contact the small group leader listed in the catalog 3 Fill in the response card listed in your program, we can help get you started 4 Stop by or contact the main office at smallgroups@brooklake.org The next opportunity to join a small group will be in our Winter Semester (starting mid January). 4 5 STUDY/ FELLOWSHIP GROUPS WEST OF 55 This group is geared toward men and women 55 years +. The time will be devoted toward fellowship with one another. This group will be starting in September. When Christians can grasp the concept that they are embraced by God, the author says, they will find a life of purpose, grace and rest. The adventure begins in this encouraging, life-changing guide. Stacy Bigby Tuesdays, 7-8:30pm Bigby s Home - Federal Way Childcare available during the study; $2 per child stacybigby@comcast.net GOOD SENSE/FINANCIAL This 6 hour course is designed for anyone in any financial condition. It teaches biblical principles of money management and trains in the basic tools with which to implement those principles into your daily life. And it does it in a grace-filled manner. You will leave with a Spending Plan in hand, the knowledge in your head to implement it and the motivation to follow through. This group will begin on September 30th. VALIANT MAN Developing and maintaining a healthy sexuality is every man s battle. This 10 Session Program with study guide is designed to fortify and restore the moral and spiritual integrity of men living in a highly sexualized world. Valiant Man challenges all men to fight for their own personal, moral and spiritual vitality and help other men fight for theirs. The course is open to all males from 17 years upwards. This group will begin on September 21st. 6 STUDY/FELLOWSHIP GROUPS 7 FOUNDATION ONE: THE BIBLE, GOD, JESUS & THE HOLY SPIRIT Jesus said, These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life They are foundational words, words to build a life on. (Matt. 7:24 Message) The foundation of any building determines both its size and strength, and the same is true of our lives. A life built on a false or faulty foundation will never reach the height that God intends for it to reach. If you skimp on you foundation, you limit your life. Foundations is the biblical basis of the Purpose-Driven Life. You must understand these life-changing truths to enjoy God s purpose for you. Each world view takes two Wednesday nights. This group will begin on September 23rd. 8 STUDY/FELLOWSHIP GROUPS 9 THE SEVEN SECRETS OF A CONFIDENT WOMAN This study is designed to help women connect with other women and begin to enjoy life in a new way. This group will begin on September 30th. Lynda Golden Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm Childcare Provided lyndagolden@comcast.net PRAYER OF JABEZ (MEN ONLY) Starting in September 24th on Thursday, late afternoons 4-5:30 Men s study on The Prayer of Jabez, in the conference room at the church office. Cost $10. Eight weeks. Study group Limit of ten men. WEST OF 55 LUNCH AND HYMN SING This group is geared toward men and women 55 years +. The time will be devoted toward fellowship with one another over lunch, followed by a time of hymn singing. S Tom & Bonnie Nadrich 1st Thursday of the month, 11:30am Bistro @ Brooklake Campus tnadrich@comcast.net GOD S PLAN Thursdays, 4-5:30pm Conference room @ the Church office Using the book by Alan Nelson, Coached by Jesus: 31 Life changing Questions Asked by the Master, we will support each other as we ask and reflect on the questions that will aid us in moving forward on our personal journey of understanding what God s plan is for each of us. We understand that everyone brings their own life experiences to the group and will use the text to guide us in making sense of what God has already given us. This group is open to anyone who might be wondering what direction their life is headed and how to continue trusting in God s plan. 10 11 MEN WHO LIKE TO SHOOT SOMETHING Sporting Clays every 2 and 4th Tuesday night from 6:30-8:30pm at the Sumner Sportsmen Club. INTEREST GROUPS BROOKLAKE BIKERS (MEN ONLY) This is a seasonal one for men who like to ride. Rides are done twice a month with one 3-4 day ride each year. 2 times a month Brooklake, Parking lot 40 s COUPLE S NIGHTS (OFFICE) 253.517.8198 A chance for couples to get together and spend some quality time with like couples and your spouse. A time to get a baby sitter and go to a movie or dinner and visit and share experiences as a group. The time will be devoted toward fellowship with one another over breakfast once a month. It is a time to socialize, catch up and connect over breakfast. 12 INTEREST GROUPS 13 20 s & 30 s MEN S GROUP This group is for the 20/30ish year old man who desires to meet other guys and be challenged to love and serve God more. A typical meeting will consist of a brief discussion over breakfast. In and out in about 75 minutes. Who knows, we may even play a little golf! Dinner before the small groups will be held. This group is for young married couples and has no sign up limit...the more the merrier. We will play games, eat some great food and maybe even make some life-long friends. This 16-20 person group will rotate golf courses and ranges in the surrounding areas and will meet for breakfast followed by a round of golf. 14 15 MINISTRY/ PROJECT GROUPS WOMEN S CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST Do you enjoy planning parties, encouraging women or decorating for Christmas? Become part of our planning committee to bring women together for a celebration of the true meaning of Christmas. Meeting dates and times to be determined by those participating in planning. HARVEST CARNIVAL This service team will be focused on putting together the annual Brooklake Halloween kids festival on Saturday, October 31st. This event is geared toward 0-8th grade. Group members will assist in various aspects of promoting, running and assisting with set up and tear down.
