But the anguish he endured, Alleluia! our salvation have procured, Alleluia! now in heaven Christ is King, Alleluia! where the angels ever sing, Alleluia! Sing we to our God above, Alleluia! praise eternal as his love, Alleluia! praise him, all you heavenly host, Alleluia! Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Alleluia Opening Prayer Bible reading: Luke 24:1-12 (pg 1061) Surprise! See, what a morning, gloriously bright, With the dawning of hope in Jerusalem; Folded the grave-clothes, tomb filled with light, As the angels announce, "Christ is risen!" See God's salvation plan, Wrought in love, borne in pain, paid in sacrifice, Fulfilled in Christ, the Man, For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!
See Mary weeping, "Where is He laid?" As in sorrow she turns from the empty tomb; Hears a voice speaking, calling her name; It's the Master, the Lord raised to life again! The voice that spans the years, Speaking life, stirring hope, bringing peace to us, Will sound till He appears, For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead! One with the Father, Ancient of Days, Through the Spirit who clothes faith with certainty. Honour and blessing, glory and praise To the King crowned with pow'r and authority! And we are raised with Him, Death is dead, love has won, Christ has conquered; And we shall reign with Him, For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead! What does Easter mean to you? SHINE (Video) Surprise! CHOIR The Seriously Surprising Story Surprise! In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; This Cornerstone, this solid Ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in All, Here in the love of Christ I stand.
In Christ alone! - who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe. This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save: Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied - For every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine - Bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand: Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand Prayers for others Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son; endless is the victory, thou o'er death hast won; angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away, kept the folded grave clothes where thy body lay. Thine be the glory, risen conquering Son, Endless is the vict'ry, thou o'er death hast won.
Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb; Lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom; let the Church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing; for her Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting. Thine be the glory, risen conquering Son, Endless is the vict'ry, thou o'er death hast won. No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life; life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife; make us more than conquerors, through thy deathless love: bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above. Thine be the glory, risen conquering Son, Endless is the vict'ry, thou o'er death hast won. Closing Response: Sisters and brothers, today we have celebrated the glorious Mystery of Christ's death and resurrection. Let us go forth, rejoicing in the knowledge that Jesus is alive. Alleluia! Today, we look to the future - to the new dawn of Eastertide Let us go to live as people bathed in the light of resurrection. Alleluia! Today, we remember the day when creation was made new when God showed humanity its destiny. Let us go as people living in the knowledge that through the triumph of Jesus over death the gates of heaven are re-opened. Alleluia! Benediction and simple sung Amen
