Evening Prayer Hymn Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus LSB 338 Service of Light The Spirit and the Church cry out: Come, Lord Jesus. All those who await His appearance pray: Come, Lord Jesus. The whole creation pleads: Come, Lord Jesus. Joyous light of glory of the immortal Father; heavenly, holy, blessed Jesus Christ. We have come to the setting of the sun, and we look to the evening light. We sing to God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: You are worthy of being praised with pure voices forever. O Son of God, O Giver of life: the universe proclaims Your glory. We praise and thank You, O God, through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, that You have enlightened us by revealing the Light that never fades. Night is falling, and day s allotted span draws to a close. The daylight which You created for our pleasure has fully satisfied us, and yet, of Your free gift, now the evening lights do not fail us. We praise You and glorify You through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord; through Him be glory, honor, and power to You in the Holy Spirit now and always and forever and ever. Amen. Psalm 141 (tune: LSB 341) 1. O, let my prayer before Thee rise I lift my hands in faith to Thee I call, O Lord, I call to Thee With haste come Thou, come unto me And hear my prayer, O Lord; Forever be adored. 2. O, let my prayer before Thee rise I lift my hands in faith to Thee Lord, guard my lips from all deceit And keep me from all evil speech; Move me ever to raise To Thee all thanks and praise. 3. O, let my prayer before Thee rise
I lift my hands in faith to Thee My eyes are turned unto Thee, Lord, My refuge and my great reward; Leave me not unto death, But give me daily breath. Let us pray. Let the incense of our repentant prayer ascend before You, O Lord, and let Your loving-kindness descend on us that, with purified minds, we may sing Your praises with the Church on earth and the whole heavenly host and may glorify You forever. Amen. Psalm Psalm 77:1 3, 11 20 I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me. In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted. When I remember God, I moan; when I meditate, my spirit faints. I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds. Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples. You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the deep trembled. The clouds poured out water; the skies gave forth thunder; your arrows flashed on every side. The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook. Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen. You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. Hymn Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer LSB 918 Reading from Holy Scripture 4. O, let my prayer before Thee rise I lift my hands in faith to Thee To God the Father glory be And to the Son eternally; And to the Spirit raise For now and ever praise!
A reading from Exodus, the fifteenth chapter. 1 Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord, saying, I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. 2 The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father s God, and I will exalt him. 3 The Lord is a man of war; the Lord is his name. 4 Pharaoh s chariots and his host he cast into the sea, and his chosen officers were sunk in the Red Sea. 5 The floods covered them; they went down into the depths like a stone. 6 Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power, your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy. 7 In the greatness of your majesty you overthrow your adversaries; you send out your fury; it consumes them like stubble. 8 At the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up; the floods stood up in a heap; the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea. 9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them. I will draw my sword; my hand shall destroy them. 10 You blew with your wind; the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters. 11 Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders? 12 You stretched out your right hand; the earth swallowed them. 13 You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed; you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode. 14 The peoples have heard; they tremble; pangs have seized the inhabitants of Philistia. 15 Now are the chiefs of Edom dismayed; trembling seizes the leaders of Moab; all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away. 16 Terror and dread fall upon them; because of the greatness of your arm, they are still as a stone, till your people, O Lord, pass by, till the people pass by whom you have purchased. 17 You will bring them in and plant them on your own mountain, the place, O Lord, which you have made for your abode,

" Guest Speaker: Rev. Dr. Anthony (Tony) Cook Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. With anxiety on the rise, the Apostle Paul's call to "rejoice always" seems all but unobtainable. While there are many helpful ways to cope with society's increasing anxiety, Paul points us to a frequently overlooked source of joy and peace, God's grace in Christ. Sermon The Lord of Triumph Exodus 15:1-18 Canticle Magnificat (My Soul Now Magnifies the Lord) LSB 934 1 My soul now magnifies the Lord; My spirit leaps for joy in Him. He keeps me in His kind regard, And I am blest for time to come. 2 For He alone who shows such might Has done amazing things to me. His mercy flows; His name like light Remains in time perpetually. 3 His arm is strong; His strength is great. He scatters those of proud intent And casts them down from high estate, Then gives the low His nourishment. 4 He feeds the hungry as His own; The wealthy leave with empty hands. He gives His help to Israel; His gracious promise always stands. 1978 Lutheran Book of Worship. Used by permission: LSB Hymn License.NET, no. 100010329. Offering Prayer Petitions concluding with: Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
O God, from whom come all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works, give to us, Your servants, that peace which the world cannot give, that our hearts may be set to obey Your commandments and also that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies, may live in peace and quietness; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Taught by our Lord and trusting His promises, we are bold to pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. Benedicamus & Benediction LSB 252 Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God.
