I have always looked forward to April and the coming summer activities and weather but this year is going to be different for Jan and I as we have spent the past two months planning the rest of our lives in retirement from active ministry. Our almost eight years at Redeemer have flown by as time does when you are enjoying what you are doing. The people of Redeemer have challenged us at times, supported us at times, worshipped with us, worked in the community with us, and helped proclaim the Gospel in a variety of settings and simply been supportive of our ministry here. The last two months here will be hard, as we say our final farewells to some, confirm our last students, baptize our last babies, pray over ill or deceased members, celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord, or hold the hands of a congregation that we wish we could retire with us. However, I know that God has a plan for us all. A plan for Redeemer as you call your new pastor, find new ways of serving the community, find new ways of worshipping God, find new ways of supporting each other, and find new ways of supporting the overall ministries of Redeemer. In his book, A Good Time to be the Church, Bishop George Anderson suggests that God never lets the church stand still. Every time we want to linger on the mount of Transfiguration, God pushes us off the scenic viewpoint and lands us back in some valley. If you stand, still you are not going forward. May God use this time of transition for Redeemer as a time for powerful spiritual renewal. To God be the glory!!! Pastor Gary

Communications Through the Church Someone once said that ½ the battles in ½ the wars fought on the globe could have been avoided If there was only communications. I m not so sure of those numbers, but a lot of confusion and head scratching could be avoided if we would learn to communicate with each other better. Please make sure that you and your committee, report any activity that you and your committee are involved in to and through the church office. You can call during working hours, leave a message at assistant@redeemerlutheran.net or parishadmin@redeemerlutheran.net, drop a note in the offering plate, or stop by the church office. Never assume that because there might be three or four people in your meeting that one of them will surely tell the church office your committee plans and dates. Thanks for communicating!!!! DRIVERS NEEDED If you are willing and able, we have a need for drivers to help pick up Senior Members from Sarah Place. We would like to get 2-3 more members to volunteer to pickup for 10:30am service and drop them back off after service. We have 2 drivers now but would like to be able to alternate ever 4-5 weeks.
