S COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION / OUTREACH PROJECTS Our greatest Christmas gift, the gift of the Christ Child, inspires us to celebrate Christmas by giving to others. Join us as we prepare Christmas baskets for our first responders at the Fentress Fire Station #6 and the First Precinct, Chesapeake Police Department. Please help by contributing prewrapped bags of snacks such as cookies, candy, and/or fruit to fill the baskets and show our appreciation. Snacks should be prewrapped in plastic bags and delivered to the church office by Friday, December 21, no later than 3:00 pm. Distribution will be made on Saturday, December 22.

Celebrate Advent and Christmas with CBC this December! Youth Events: Inspirited Creative Worship, December 5 and 12, 6:30-: For the last youth Wednesday events of 2018, Lee Harlowe and Zipper Harfst will lead practice for the December 16 program, Carriers of the Light. Hang Time, December 14, 6:30-8:30 PM: Come have fun at our youth Christmas party! Sunday School, 9:15 10:15 AM: Relevant studies with a relational approach. Churchwide Worship: Sunday Morning, December 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, Noon: Each Sunday in Advent, youth will participate in Sunday morning worship in different ways. Support the youth especially during the December 16 Carriers of the Light program. Hanging of the Greens, December 2, 5:30 PM: Youth will offer readings during this unique worship service where folks of all ages decorate the sanctuary for the season. Christmas Eve Candlelight and Communion Service, December 24, 5:00 PM: Celebrate the coming of Christ with a beautiful annual tradition for all ages. Churchwide Service Projects: Youth are encouraged to participate in our churchwide service projects this season. Please look at the Brian s Bit page to learn more about the opportunities Centerville is sponsoring. Contact Zipper Harfst at zipperharfst@gmail.com for more information!

This will be a collaboration of Band, Bells, Children, Choir, Congregation, and Youth. God sent His son to be the Light of the World and we will be Carriers of His Light!

December will kick off the Foreign Mission Offering, our Lottie Moon Offering. Our goal is $2,500 and will be collected throughout the month of December 2018. We ask that you consider using the Lottie Moon Post Office to send Christmas Cards to our church members. For a donation of 25 cents a card we will deliver your Christmas greeting to the Sunday School Classroom. All of the donations will go toward the foreign mission offering. The Post Office box will be in the foyer outside the sanctuary.

As we come to the end of 2018, we would like to thank everyone for their generous gifts throughout the year to support the ministries of Centerville Baptist Church. We have accomplished many things this past year, including the complete renovation of our Sanctuary, Listening as One Body Sessions, planting and harvesting in our Community Garden, hosting C.A.S.T. and supporting the Burfoot house, to name a few. None of these would have been accomplished without the time, talent and treasure given by our congregation. Overall, we are about $40,000 behind in our budgeted giving. We would like to close this gap as much as possible to give us a solid financial base heading into 2019. The Stewardship and Finance committee has been working with leaders of the various ministry teams to develop our 2019 budget, we are facing cost increases in a few of areas. Some are associated with the age of our buildings, others with new ministries being enhanced or started in 2019. Thank you for prayerfully considering how you can make a difference in 2018 and set the stage in 2019 with a special year-end gift. In addition to cash or check, donations may be made electronically through your banks Billpay service or through the Ways to Give link on the church s website. Electronic giving is also an easy way to automate your regular tithes and offerings and provides much needed financial consistency for our church. Sincerely, Jeff Dooley Chair
