LORD S DAY OF CELEBRATION December 9, 2018 In preparation for worship, please take time to silence all electronic devices, and quiet our thoughts, so that we all may focus our hearts and minds on the Lord. Prelude Unto Us Pappas Dean Pappas Welcome and Call To Worship Hymn #173 O Come, All Ye Faithful Adeste Fideles Prayer of Invocation Family News Stewardship Testimony Mike Morrison, Elder Scripture Reading Isaiah 2:2-5; Revelation 22:1,2 (p.1062,1938) Lighting the Second Advent Candle Peace 9:00am Drew & Ying Gagliano, Avery, Aniah 10:45am Ben & Stephanie Nicholson, Hugh, Abigail Declaration of Peace: Prayer of St. Francis (Unison) Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace: where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. In Jesus Name. Amen. This Wednesday, December 12 th, at 7:00pm in the Chapel: A Night To Remember is a service of comfort and hope for everyone who is experiencing sadness and loss in this season, or earlier in the year. While we often think of loss in terms of death (adults, children, pregnancy), there are other losses that cause our spirits to flag in a season so overtly cheerful, and we may feel more forgotten and forlorn than festive. All are invited to A Night to Remember. If you know someone this service might help, invite them! If you are that person, and don t want to come alone, why not ask a friend to come with you? This service offers comfort and encouragement from the God of all comfort, and is meant for all who long for both 3

ANNOUNCEMENTS On Wednesday, December 12 th, at 7:00pm in the Chapel: A Night To Remember is a service of comfort and hope for everyone who is experiencing sadness and loss in this season, or earlier in the year. This service offers comfort and encouragement from the God of all comfort, and is meant for all who long for both A very heartfelt Thank You to all of the cookie bakers and buyers, baggers, delivery and Dickens Festival folks! The Cookie Giveaway is a very much appreciated community gesture. We had some nice conversations and interest in our Nursery School and Found Wandering Christmas concert! The Dickens Festival was a very popular community event, the weather didn t deter people from attending! We ran out of cookies early, so we ll be looking for even more cookies next year!! FINANCIAL UPDATE: Please take note of the church s financial position as we approach the end of the calendar year and the budget year. Although our expenses are slightly less than budgeted, we are falling short in offerings received to cover those expenses. As of the end of November, offerings for the year stand at approximately $835,000 which is about $90,000 less than our actual year-to-date ministry expenses of $923,218. Of course, in the final weeks there will be additional expenses as well. Please prayerfully consider how you can help us close that gap in the next few weeks so we end the year with our expenses met. Your generosity will make a difference for the Kingdom! Found Wandering returns this year with a Concert benefitting The Philadelphia Project Sunday, December 23 at 7:00pm at NPC Dr. Janet Moore has been serving in our Counseling Ministry for over 13 years, working with individuals struggling with a wide range of personal and psychological challenges. Dr. Moore s perspective is that addressing mental health issues is essential to opening our hearts and minds, thereby enabling a closer relationship with God that can sustain us in an imperfect world. You may reach Dr. Moore by leaving a message on her church extension, 610-664-4880 (ext. 121), or at 484-686-6630. 8
