The Lord s Prayer All And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Nicene Creed All We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.

The Prayers of the We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries are invited to come forward. For the Church of God, for Michael, our Presiding Bishop, for Wendell, our Bishop, for all who minister in Christ s Church, and for the people of God in every place, we pray to you, O Lord. For those in positions of public trust especially the President of the United States, our elected officials and the judiciary that they may serve justice, and promote the dignity and freedom of every person, we pray to you, O Lord. For the mission of the Church, for the peace of the world, that we may be faithful witnesses to your love and mercy, we pray to you, O Lord. For all who have commended themselves to our prayers, for those on our parish cycle of prayer (N.), we pray to you, O Lord. For the healing of the sick (N.), for the relief of the suffering and the comfort of all who are close to death, we pray to you, O Lord. For refugees, immigrants and all who come to us as strangers, that they may know the welcome of Christ, we pray to you, O Lord. For those expecting babies, and for those who give life to others, we pray to you, O Lord. For ourselves, our families and friends, and those we love, and for those who do not know love, we pray to you, O Lord. For those who rest in Christ (N.) and for all the dead, we pray to you, O Lord. We pray for our own needs, and those of others; The people may add their own petitions. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer. We pray for those in our congregation who are celebrating a birthday or an anniversary, saying, O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on your servants as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Confession and Absolution Gospeller Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor. The people kneel. A brief period of silence is observed. Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. The offers the absolution, and the people respond Amen. The people stand. The Peace The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you. The people greet one another with a sign of God s peace and then are seated. The Announcements The Reverend Andrew Van Culin The Offertory The people remain seated while the offering is collected. Anthem Praise the Lord, O my soul Ned Rorem (b. 1923) Hallelujah! Praise the Lord, O my soul. I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. Put not your trust in rulers nor in any child of earth, for there is no help in them. When they breathe their last, they return to earth and in that day their thoughts perish. Happy they who have the God of Jacob for their help! Whose hope is in the Lord their God; who made heaven and earth, the seas, and all that is in them; who keeps his promise forever; who gives justice to those who are oppressed, and food to those who hunger. The Lord sets the prisoners free the Lord opens the eyes of the blind; the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous; the Lord cares for the stranger; He sustains the orphan and widow, but frustrates the way of the wicked. The Lord shall reign forever, your God, O Zion, throughout all generations. Hallelujah! Psalm 146 The people stand as the gifts are presented. Children and their parents are invited to follow the ushers and to sit in the Chancel between the choir stalls. They return to their seats for Communion.
