Stewardship Reflections And this is my prayer; that your love may increase ever more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value - PHILIPPIANS 1:9-10 Glittery holiday ads can blind us to our stewardship values and distort our needs and wants. It is important that during this season of endless buying we remember that each of us also has the need to give back to God and to those that are in need. Knights Facts OLM Council 11409 Seminarian Support Our council supports two seminarians throughout their studies. They re meant to help us realize that no matter how bleak and difficult and discouraging things may be, no matter how unchanged the dark things of life are, there s reason to keep on going. Jesus Christ, in whom rests the hopes and fears of all the years, is with us, and he is the source from which hope is drawn. Get some Christmas shopping done for family and friends after Mass this weekend and support Our Lady of the Mount operations! Share the cost of one ticket with friends, and hopefully share the winnings, too! If you or someone you know would like to hear more about Jesus and the hope that he is to us, we invite you to call the Parish Office at 908-647-1075 to be put in touch with a member of the RCIA team. Lighting Hearts on Fire Diocesan Marian Consecration Preparation Year Bishop Checchio has announced his plan to consecrate the Diocese of Metuchen to Our Lady of Guadalupe in 2019. There will be a year-long preparation process launching December 12th, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, with Evening Prayer at the Cathedral of St. Francis in Metuchen at 7:30pm. All of the faithful are invited to attend. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of the Americas and was also given the title, The Star of the New Evangelization, by St. John Paul II. The purpose of this consecration is to invoke her aid for our diocese so that we can be spiritually renewed and equipped to live out our call to evangelize more faithfully. For more info: www.lightingheartsonfire.com Contact Your Legislators to Oppose Assisted Suicide Thank you for helping to prevent a vote on A1504/S1072, the NJ Assisted Suicide bill; however, there is still much work to do to stop NJ from becoming the next state to legalize physician assisted suicide, and we ask for your continued help to oppose this bill. The Assembly may not schedule a vote on the bill until January 31, 2019. The proponents of the bill are pushing for the Senate to schedule a legislative hearing in early to mid-january so they can also schedule a vote in the full Senate on January 31st, so right now it is critically important for you to please call and/ or email your two (2) Assembly Members and State Senator to urge them to Vote No on A1504/ S1072. Please do this even if you have contacted them previously. You can call the Office of Legislative Services at 1-800-792-8630 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to obtain the names and phone numbers of your two (2) Assembly Members and State Senator. You can also search for your Assembly Members and State Senator by visiting the New Jersey Catholic Conference website (NJCC) at http://njcatholic.org/ Most importantly, please pray fervently that this bill will be defeated.
