Hello friends, On Monday November 26, I had the opportunity to celebrate with his Excellency Cardinal emeritus, Juan Sandoval Iniguez. He celebrated his 24th anniversary as cardinal in Guadalajara. Bishop emeritus Ricardo Ramirez and I had this opportunity to be part of this celebration in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Many bishops, priests, and religious sisters attended to this event. It was a beautiful celebration at the San Pedro church in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco. After the mass, a reception was held at the parish hall where everybody was invited to be part of it. It was just amazing. New Parking Lot Entrance/Exit Procedures On Sunday, December 2nd as you are aware we will be adding a new mass time. We will now have 3 Sunday morning masses: 8:00 am, 9:30 am and 11:00 am. In order to keep traffic moving and avoiding an accidents in the parking lot, we are designating an "Entrance" from Mesa Street and an "Exit" onto Chaparral. This will apply to all masses from now on. We would like to begin using this procedure, on the weekend of November 24th and 25th. Please help us by being aware of your surroundings, watch out for children who cannot be seen between cars, as well as our parishioners who use a walker, cane or wheel chair. Drive slowly and carefully. Thank you for helping us to help our parishioners attend mass in a safe manner. After that celebration I took a few days off to rest. I've been conscious of the works and commitments that I have in the church, so I decided to take some time off for myself. Now, this weekend we welcome the Spanish mass in our community. I believe this is the first time that the Newman Center has a permanent Spanish mass. Fr. Alex Urena $5.00 Fill the Truck was created so our parishioners would bring in non-perishable food items usually the first weekend of the month to stock the shelves for La Bodega. You can still bring in any non-perishable items you wish to donate to La Bodega. Fr. Alex decided to expand Fill the Truck for other organizations for the County, City and NMSU to receive much needed items. We took up a collection one weekend to assist NMSU Aggie Cupboard to help their students pantry, one for our Campus Ministry Aggie Awakening, etc. In December 2018, because we have the Gift Giving Tree, we will not have the Fill the Truck event on December 1/2. Your generous donations to those children in need does more thank Fill the Truck but fills the hearts and joy to the recipients and especially those who give these gifts. The organizations that receive these gifts are: Dona Ana County Head start and Jardin de los Ninos. We will keep you advised of what organization will be the recipient of Fill the Truck in January. If you are aware of any organization that could use assistance, please call Isabel, 522-6202, for consideration. We do thank you very much for all your generosity in what you have provided to us for these organizations. You are such a generous community. We thank you all.

We are excited to have the children back after our Thanksgiving break. Now we begin to prepare the children not just for our pageant but for the Christmas season. Our children are inundated with material images filling them with ideas of what to want for Christmas. Toys may appear to win the battle but we can help in shaping what our children remember for a lifetime. We are responsible for a small piece of each child s journey and what a better time. A question to ask, What can we do this Christmas season that our children will remember as adults? Parents can think back to their childhood and use those memories to add a new tradition. Pulling from our pasts give us the same energy as when the memory was first experienced. If you want your children to be moved by the season, bring forth what really moved you. Reminder: This week we will be sending a note to determine which children will be available for our Christmas Pageant. Song sheets will be sent home and we ask parents to please practice with their children. The Greatest Gift Children s Christmas Program will be held Christmas Eve December 24, 2018 from 3:00 pm 3:45 pm. Have a blessed week! Enedina Vazquez Children Ministry Coordinator Mid/High School Faith Formation December classes will meet 2nd, 9th, & 16th. We are on Christmas Break Dec 23 & 30.
