WELCOME VISITORS We are honored by your presence this morning. We would love for you to record your attendance on the Friendship Pad when it is passed to you and provide information so that we can contact you further. ENTER TO WORSHIP This is a holy hour. We invite you to enter this sanctuary with joy and reverence. We invite members and visitors to be seated near the front of the sanctuary to enhance our sense of community in worship. When you have taken your seat, spend a few moments in quiet reflection as you prepare your heart for worship. If the service has already begun, please enter quietly by one of the side aisles. Please remember to silence your cell phone. RESOURCES FOR HEARING IMPAIRMENT Hearing assistance devices are available for those who have such need. Please see an usher for more information. BECOME A MEMBER OF HBBC Those who desire to join our church may come forward to where the pastor is standing during the Hymn of Commitment. If you would like to meet with a minister before making this decision, any of our ministers would be happy to answer your questions. UPCOMING EVENTS FIFTH SUNDAY FELLOWSHIP Join us on Sunday, July 29 in the Fellowship Hall for donuts and coffee prior to Sunday School. We will gather from 9:30 10:00 AM to enjoy a time of fellowship across Sunday School classes. This is a great way to begin the day and deepen our roots across generations! SCHOOL OF MUSIC REGISTRATION: OPENS TOMORROW! Tomorrow, School of Music Fall Semester registration opens! The Hayes Barton Baptist Church School of Music provides quality music instruction in a Christian setting to the Triangle region. The program offers private instruction for a wide variety of ages from young children to mature adults. Our program includes lessons in voice, piano, organ, flute, oboe, and trombone. Other instruments are offered upon request and are dependent upon securing a qualified instructor. Go to www.hbbc.org/schoolofmusic to find out more and register, or contact the School of Music Director, Lisa Moxley, with any questions you might have. HBBC SUMMER CONCERT: SUNDAY, AUGUST 5 Join Adam Courtenay White at 2 PM for a trumpet concert for Hayes Barton Baptist Church s School of Music Concert Series! The concert program will combine rich hymn arrangements ranging from meditative to faithaffirming brilliance with stunning classical pieces by Haydn, Hummel, and Neruda. Adam is a current masters student in Trumpet Performance at Columbus State University, where he studies with Dr. Rob Murray. Hailing from NC, Adam has a music education degree from Gardner-Webb University, where he studied with Tim Hudson. In Columbus, Adam has a blossoming trumpet studio, and maintains an active performance schedule. SAVORING THE WORD OF GOD We are offering a distinctly different study during the Sunday School hour this month in the Membership Matters room (rm. 106). In these experiential sessions, we will actively engage in the ancient spiritual discipline of sacred reading known as Lectio Divina. Under the leadership of Rev. Julia Ledford, you will gain understanding and experience in this method of devotional reading of scripture, as a spiritual discipline and a pattern for life. Join us! CHURCHWIDE RETREAT: REGISTER NOW, SPACE IS LIMITED We hope that you will make plans to join us for our Churchwide Retreat October 12-14 at Caraway Conference Center in Sophia, NC. The retreat is designed to provide people of all ages a chance to come together for fellowship, Bible study, worship, and fun. Together we ll explore what it means to be rooted in our faith as we grow closer to God and one another. Register online at www.hbbc.org/rooted. The registration deadline is August 12, but space is limited. Register now! EXTENDED SESSION VOLUNTEERS: YOU CAN HELP! Volunteers are needed to care for the youngest members of our church family during worship each week! Extended Session volunteers serve just six-seven Sundays/year during the worship hour, and there are still positions available with every age group (Infants-Kindergarten). This is such an important ministry in our church and a huge gift to our young families. If you would consider serving in this important ministry, please sign up at www.hbbc.org/ esvolunteers or email Sarah Mears at smears@hbbc.org! 2019 LEDFORD MISSION REQUESTS If you would like to request funding for a 2019 mission project through the Ledford Missions Endowment Fund, please submit your proposal to the Ledford Missions Fund Council by July 31, 2018. The Council will review requests in August and bring recommendations for distribution of available funds at the congregation s September business meeting. This fund was established through a gift by the late Hubert F. Ledford, a longtime stalwart member of the congregation. Application forms are available at www.hbbc.org/ledford, or may be obtained from Cathy Eller in the church office. Completed forms must be returned by July 31. MOVERS AND SHAKERS CHOIR The music ministry would like to start a choir this fall for persons ages 55+. We would rehearse at 10:00 AM on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Tuesdays each month. The 4th Tuesday would be an extended time to allow us to travel to care facilities or other places of ministry and return in time for the Movers and Shakers luncheon. If this is something you might be interested in, please contact Lisa Moxley at lmoxley@hbbc.org. Let s join our voices and Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
