Welcome To Worship At East Brentwood Presbyterian Church Sunday, October 28, 2018 10:00 a.m. 23rd Sunday after Pentecost East Brentwood Presbyterian Church 9000 Concord Road Brentwood, TN 37027 (615) 370-4227 www.ebpctn.org Thought Before Worship Sunday, October 28, 2018 The congregation is asked to use the time of the pre-service music as a period of silent prayer and preparation. If we want to speak of heavenly things, we may begin by speaking about earthly things, and if we want to describe that which is beyond all words, we may begin with words we know such as: man, woman, field, seed, bird, air, bread, sea, fish, joy... The kingdom is like these things; the kingdom is found in these things... If we cannot find the kingdom here we will never find it anywhere, for earth is where the seeds of heaven are sown. (Barbara Brown Taylor, The Seeds of Heaven) Welcome & Centering We Gather to Worship God Prelude Will You Let Me Be Your Servant Gillard (Praise Band) *Call to Worship Open our eyes, O God, that we might see the fingerprints of Your love in our lives. Open our ears,

that we might hear good news. Open our lips, and we will sing praise to You, our God. *Opening Hymn #694 Great God of Every Blessing Call to Confession Prayer of Confession God of mercy, we wanted to be faithful this week, and in some ways, we were: we loved, we served and endeavored to be our best. But there were also times when we were captured by our fears, we were ungrateful, and we focused on the worst in ourselves and others. Once again we stand before you as a jumble of beauty and brokenness. And once again, we ask you to forgive us and lead us in this week to come. (Silent Prayer) Response #392 Jesus, We Are Here Assurance of Forgiveness Friends, believe the good news. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Passing of the Peace The peace of Christ is with you. And also with you. *Gloria Patri #591 Halle, Halle, Hallelujah Halle, halle, hallelujah Halle, halle, hallelujah Halle, halle, hallelujah hallelujah, hallelujah Time with the Children Congregation: God go with you. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen Offering Offertory Doxology #606 Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow Prayer of Thanksgiving and Dedication The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. Preschool Chapel News: This week in Chapel, the 2-year-olds discussed feelings. We sang "If You're Happy and You Know It" (with many fun verses) and read The Feelings Book. In the 3's and 4's our Bible verse was about Peace and learned to say Peace in sign language TWO different ways! We read The Peace Book by Todd Parr and sang "The PEACE Song" (to the tune of B-I-N-G-O) and "Thank You, God."
