NATIVITY NEWS MARCH 2018
HARBOR HOUSE GATHERING Nativity s annual spring party for Harbor House is set for Sat., March 24 th from ten to one. Join their ladies for a morning of fellowship and crafts followed by a delicious meal. Please look for the sign- up sheets in the narthex and volunteer to help bring joy this Easter season to those who are struggling with difficult times in their lives. Remember to bring your donations of non-perishable goods to the church by the last Sunday of each month (except those months with five Sundays when we collect for the Center for Violence Prevention). Canned main dishes of beef stew or chicken and dumplings are always in short supply as are canned meats like Spam, tuna, chicken, etc. Spaghetti, along with spaghetti sauce with meat, is also a good item to share. All items are delivered at the end of each month to the Rankin Country Human Resource Agency for their pantry. WHY DO WE WAVE ECO-PALMS ON PALM SUNDAY Eco-Palms preserve the vitality of the communities and forests for years to come. Community groups receive 5 to 6 times the normal payment per frond. Eco-Palms are purchased directly from the communities, which lessens the impact of the fluctuating market and allows value-added processing to take place within the community. A typical Eco-Palm is harvested in the forest by men and processed by women in the them contribute to their family s financial stability. Without a market for the palms the forests are at risk of being converted to agricultural fields
