KPA 2017 NEW LOOK This New Year 2017 marks the new face of the Kid Possible Assembly (KPA) monthly topics. The KPA serves as a chapter assembly for the KFLs which functions as a monthly spiritual nourishment for the kids. The new KPA format is divided into 5 parts: Motivation The motivation serves as an icebreaker that is connected to the talk proper, this helps the kids to warm-up to the KPA topic for the month. Head The head is the talk proper or Pep talk from the previous KPA format. The main points and discussion of the KPA can be found here. Heart In every KPA, we want our KFLs to embody each topic, thus the Heart is the practical application of the topic. This is usually where the 3 main points to remember can be found. Hands This part of the KPA is where the activities per KFL level can be found. This is where the kids can practice what they have learned during the KPA. Conclusion In every KPA, the kids should be able to take home and remember what they have learned, this is usually through a song, a memory verse, or a quotation that kids can repeat and remember. Let us continue evangelizing the young ones, for the Lord himself reminded us in Mark 9:37 Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.

PLEASE FORGIVE ME! I. MOTIVATION Materials: Masking tape or yarn, ten or more books Mechanics: Use the masking tape or yarn to make a straight line on the floor. Ask a Heart Champ to do the activity and let the kids watch and see what will happen. Tell the Heart Champ to hold his or her arms straight out to the side, with both palms facing up. Tell him or her to walk the length of the line. Once completed the task tell the kids that walking on the line is very easy, right? Once again, ask the heart champ to hold his or her arms straight out to the side, with both palms facing up but this time place one book on the palm of each of the heart champ s hands and ask them to walk the length of the line again without letting the books fall. Ask the kids if it is harder this time. Have the heart champ return to the beginning of the line and place additional books on top of the book(s) that are already there. Tell to walk the line again. Continue adding books until it is impossible for the heart champ to complete the task without dropping the books. Explain to the kids that the books represents various sins. That every one of us sins and it is impossible for us to walk the straight path if carry so many sins in our lives. (Online Source From: Kids Sunday School for Gradeschool) http://www.kidssundayschool.com/299/gradeschool/dont-sin.php II. HEAD Sin is the conscious thought, act or deed we do against the teachings of the Church and God, our heavenly father. When we sin, we go against the commandments of God and we allow ourselves to be away from him. The sacrament of Reconciliation or Penance is a sacrament in which the priest, as the agent of God, forgives sins committed after Baptism. When we are heartily sorry for all the wrong things that we have done, we sincerely confess it to the priest. Through this, we go back again with our dear father in heaven.

III. HEART Why do we do confess our sins? Just like when we commit a mistake or when we disobey our parents, we say sorry to them and our parents will forgive us because they love us and they want us to become good sons and daughters. In confession, we tell our sins to a priest so that we will be able to experience God s mercy and love for us. We must be truly sorry for our sins and not want to do them again. What must we do to receive the sacrament of Penance worthily? To receive the sacrament of Penance worthily, we must: examine our conscience; be sorry for our sins; have the firm purpose of not sinning again; confess our sins to the priest; be willing to perform the penance the priest gives us. What happens after we confess our sins to the priest? The priest may then speak to you. He may try to help you to see the why you commit such sin. Usually, we're sinful because we're selfish. He will also remind and comfort you of God's love for you. He will then tell you to make an act of penance, so that it will help you not to do it again and change your life. IV. HANDS A. Kids-at-Play ( 3-4 years old ) Activity: God is in our Hearts (Online source from: Reconciliation Lessons for LIGHT) Materials: One heart-shape for each kid (use red construction paper, cut the heart in half and fasten at the bottom with a brad, so that the heart can be moved apart and put back together again). Put the kid s name on one half and GOD on the other half of the heart. One heart-shape for the Heart Champ with name on one half and GOD on the other half Stickers Glitter & Glue Sticks Crayons and/or Markers

Mechanics: 1. Have the children gather in a circle on the floor. 2. Play and sing Daddy/Mommy Loves Me (Sung to the tune of London Bridge) Daddy/Mommy loves me Yes he/she does, yes he/she does, yes he/she does Daddy/Mommy loves me Yes he/she does And I love my daddy/mommy 3. Explain that God loves each one of us because we are special to him. He is in our hearts. When we love someone we feel it in our hearts and it is a joyful feeling. God is also present in everyone s heart (Mom, Dad, brothers, sisters, etc.). Thus we are also able to experience God through them. 4. Go around the circle naming each kid and tell them that God is in his/her heart. 5. Discuss how when someone hurts us or when we hurt someone, they/we are displeasing God too because God is in our heart. What will they feel when someone takes a toy or candy away from them (Sad). 6. Show the children the heart fastened at the bottom with God and Heart Champ s name written on it.. Explain how the heart is hurt/broken (apart) when we are sad. 7.Forgiveness puts our hearts back together and makes us happy. Give examples. 8.Give each child a heart, fastened at the bottom with their name and God on it. Have them decorate their heart with stickers, glitter, etc. 9. After the children finish decorating their heart, ask them to name things that might displease them (have them move the heart apart). Next ask them what might make them happy (have them put the heart together). 10. Pray a prayer with the children to thank God for loving us and being in our hearts. B. First Step ( 5-7 years old ) Activity: I am Sorry! Materials: Colored paper or construction paper (one for each kid) Scissors Crayon Markers Stickers or any decorating materials

Mechanics: Give each kid a construction paper. Have the children cut out a large heart-shape and write the words I m Sorry on it. They can decorate the heart using crayons, markers, glitter etc. When all are done decorating their heart, ask the kids to think about someone from whom they need to ask forgiveness. Ask them to give the heart to that person. C. Foot Step ( 8-10 years old ) Activity: Shake hands with Jesus (Online source from: Reconciliation Lessons for LIGHT) Materials: Construction paper or colored papers Markers Scissors Puncher Mechanics: Distribute construction paper for each kid. Trace an outline of one hand. On each finger, write one of the steps necessary to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation: 1. We think of our sins. 2. We confess our sins. 3. We tell God we are truly sorry. 4. We promise not to sin again. (Act of Contrition) 5. We thank God. (Penance) Have the kids cut their hand out. Punch a hole at the top of the hand and tie a piece of yarn through it. Suggest that they hang their hand on the doorknob of their bedroom as a reminder for each time they receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. D. Step Up ( 11-12 years old ) Household Guide Questions: 1. What is true forgiveness to you? 2. What do you think are the things that hinders you to forgive? 3. What are the things that will allow you and the people around you to have a harmonious life?

V. CONCLUSION God loves us so much and He wants us to be with Him in heaven someday. But human as we are, we do things that can hurt God so much. That is why we need to go back to Him. Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we are able to become friends with God again. No matter how many sins that we commit, still God forgives us and helps us not to sin anymore. And because God forgives us, we are also able to forgive others from their mistakes to us. Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for your forgiveness, and for loving everyone the most. Help us to love others, like you do. Amen. Recite: Our Father
