I'm glad for what I have that's an easy way to start, for a God who really cares cuz He listens to my prayers; that's why I give thanks every day." (Veggie Tales, "The Thankfulness song." During the community Thanksgiving services at the end of November, I preached on the value of a Thankful Heart using Paul's letter to the Philippians Chapter four. One of the points I brought out was that the more we look for things to be thankful for, the more we will see; and this attitude of thankfulness will shape how we see other things as well, and how we live. As we enter into the Advent and Christmas seasons with all their attendant hub bub and business I wonder how much of the expectations that we have could be modified by practicing an attitude of Thankfulness? I know that I often get caught up in all the preparation that needs to be done and rarely take the time just to sit and be still. Nor am I always as reflective as I need to be during this season. To that end, I would like to invite you to join me in a Spiritual Practice for the month of December. Beginning December 1st and ending December 30th, I invite you to identify one thing that you are thankful for each day. I will be posting mine on Facebook. You can record yours any way you wish. As you identify what you are thankful for, take a moment to pray about those items and people as well. "Create in me a new heart O God, and renew a right Spirit within me...(psalm 52) Pastor Peter 1
