Day 1 June 11: Depart U.S.A. Our trip begins as we depart on our overnight flight to Amman, Jordan. Day 2 June 12: Arrive Amman Upon arrival in Amman we will be met at the airport and transfer to our hotel for check in. (D) I T I N E R A R Y Day 3 June 13: Amman After a morning of relaxation, we will head out to Jerash north of Amman, one of the largest locations of Greco Roman remains in the world. Our visit will include staged re enactments of an ancient Roman gladiator show. Returning to Amman, you will have the option of either relaxing at the hotel before dinner or visiting one of the museums in Amman. (B/D) Day 4 June 14: Amman / Petra This morning we will depart Amman and drive to the traditional Baptismal Site on the Jordan River, known as Bethany Beyond the Jordan. Then proceed to Mount Nebo where Moses first viewed the Promised Land, overlooking the Dead Sea. Next we will stop at Madaba, a Byzantine center of master mosaics, to see the oldest surviving map of the Holy Land. Continue on to Petra, one of the most magnificent sites in the Middle East. (B/D) Day 5 June 15: Petra This morning will be spent exploring the Rose Red City of Petra which is literally carved into the sides of a deep gorge. The only entrance is through the Siq, a narrow slit in the rock enclosed by beautiful limestone cliffs. Riding on horseback (no riding experience required) between the 100 foot cliffs we will see a remarkable sight: temples, tombs, and dwellings chiseled right into the limestone walls. Return to hotel with the remainder of the afternoon free, or for those with the stamina enjoy an optional extended tour of Petra valley and take mules up to the Monastery and view the Roman villas and Tomb of Kings before returning to your hotel. This evening we will enjoy a dinner and folklore show at a set camp near Petra. (B/D) Day 6 June 16: Petra / Jerusalem Depart Petra and drive north to the Allenby Bridge border crossing where we will cross into the Holy Land. We then drive up through the Judean wilderness to Jerusalem and proceed to the Israel Museum where we will see a scale model of the Holy City as it was during the time of Jesus, view some of the great treasures of the Museum s collection, and tour the Shrine of the Book which houses an exhibit on the Dead Sea Scrolls. We will then proceed to our hotel for checkin, or those who wish may take an optional visit to the Holocaust Memorial at Yad Vashem, returning by pre paid taxis. Overnight in Jerusalem. (B/D) Day 7 June 17: Jerusalem This morning we take a full day excursion outside of Jerusalem. Drive south along the shores of the Dead Sea (the lowest point on earth) to Masada, the fortress stronghold built by Herod the Great and later the scene of the final siege of The Great Jewish Revolt in 73 C.E. After visiting Masada we will have an opportunity to take a swim in the salty, mineral laden waters of the Dead Sea. Then proceed to Qumran where we will visit the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Continue on to Genesis Land where we will enjoy a camel ride followed by dinner in Abraham s Tent. Return to Jerusalem for overnight. (B/D) Day 8 June 18: Jerusalem After breakfast, we will drive down to Hebron in the Judean hills. Considered the second holiest city in Judaism after Jerusalem, Hebron is sacred to three faiths as it contains the Cave of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs where Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebecca, Jacob and Leah are entombed. Heading back north towards Jerusalem, we will stop at Herodium, the artificial hill built by Herod the Great as a palace and eventual mausoleum. Drive to Bethlehem, a city whose name the whole world recognizes. Visit the Basilica of the Nativity, the Manger, the Church of St. Catherine and the Grotto of St. Jerome. Continue to Beit Sahur to visit the site that commemorates the Shepherds Fields. (B/D) Day 9 June 19: Jerusalem This morning will be free to attend Sunday Eucharist at St. George s Cathedral or do individual exploring in the Old City. In the afternoon there will be an optional trip to Ramallah to visit the economic and political capital of the West Bank, where the Palestinian Authority is based. While in Ramallah we will visit Yasser Arafat s tomb, a Palestinian refugee camp, some local projects supported by the Episcopal Church, and sample Palestinian street life before returning to Jerusalem for overnight. (B/D) Day 10 June 20: Jerusalem / Tiberias After breakfast, we will drive north towards the Galilee, stopping on the way at Caesarea Maritima, the magnificent ruins of the Roman port and city built by Herod the Great, the capital of the ancient Roman Procurators of Judea, where we will see the Roman Theater, Crusader's Moat, the Byzantine Churches, and the aqueduct. Driving north along the Mediterranean coast, we will stop at Mount Carmel near Haifa, where Elijah did battle with the prophets of Baal. After visiting Tel Meggido (biblical Armageddon) we will continue on to the town of Tiberias located on the Sea of Galilee for overnight. (B/D) Day 11 June 21: Tiberias After breakfast, we will drive to Cana of Galilee, where Jesus

performed the first miracle changing water into wine at the wedding feast. We will then tour the archeological site at Sepphoris, a sophisticated Greco Roman city just a few miles from Nazareth where a construction worker like Jesus likely found employment. Then we will proceed to Nazareth Village, a reconstruction of the First Century C.E. environment that Jesus lived in, enjoying an authentic 1st Century CE Lunch. We then descend into Nazareth to visit the Basilica of the Annunciation and Mary s Well. Our final stop will be the summit of Mt. Tabor to visit the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus. (B/L/D) Day 12 June 22: Tiberias Our day will begin with a visit to Kibbutz Nof Ginosaur where we will see an ancient wooden boat from the time of Jesus which was uncovered on its shores. We will then enjoy a scenic boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Next we will visit Capernaum, Jesus home during his ministry. After visiting the synagogue where he taught and worshipped, we proceed to Tabgha, site of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. Then drive up to the Mount of the Beatitudes to visit the site of the Sermon on the Mount. The remainder of the day will be free or you may wish to take an optional trip up to the Golan Heights, stopping at the ancient pagan center of worship at Caesarea Philippi (Paneas) on the slopes of Mount Hermon. (B/D) Day 13 June 23: Tiberias / Jerusalem After breakfast, drive south through the West Bank alongside the River Jordan, down to Jericho, and then back up to Jerusalem. Drive to the top of Mount Scopus for a panoramic view of Jerusalem and the Judean desert. We will ascend the Mount of Olives for a spectacular view of the Old City of Jerusalem, descending the other side and visiting the Church of Pater Noster where Jesus taught the Lord s Prayer to his disciples, the Chapel of Ascension, and Dominus Flevit where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Continue to the Tomb of Mary the Virgin, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Church of All Nations which commemorates Jesus Agony in the Garden. Then proceed to our hotel in Jerusalem for check in. (B/D) Day 14 June 24: Jerusalem After breakfast we will visit the Temple Mount, on which is built the Dome of the Rock (an Islamic shrine), and the el Aqsa Mosque (the third most important mosque in Islam after the mosques in Mecca and Medina). At the south western corner of the Temple Mount is the Wailing Wall, the most sacred place in the world for Jews. Visit the City of David, the primary archeological site for the ancient City of Jerusalem where you can visit hidden springs, walk through ancient tunnels, and experience remnants of the City at the time of the Kings and Prophets. Then proceed to Mount Zion to visit the Upper Room which is considered the site of the Last Supper, next door to the place revered by Jews as the Tomb of King David. Next visit Dormition Abbey and the church of Saint Peter in Gallicantu where Peter denied Jesus three times (location of Chief Priest Caiaphas House). This evening enjoy a Middle Eastern feast at a local restaurant. (B/D) Day 15 June 25: Jerusalem Rising early, we will follow the ancient Via Dolorosa (Way of the Cross), starting at the Church of Saint Anne and the Pool of Bethesda, stopping at all 14 Stations, including the Chapel of Flagellation, Lithostrotos (the Judgment Seat), and the Arch of the Ecce Homo. We will walk through the streets of the Old City to the holiest shrine in Christendom, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, which contains Golgotha and the Tomb of Jesus the site of his death and resurrection. We will then take an excursion outside of Jerusalem to visit Emmaus, the site of Jesus post resurrection appearance. (B/D) Day 16 June 26: Jerusalem / Tel Aviv / U.S.A.
