Our Mission To transform people, creating disciples of Christ who are devoted to living in a biblically-functioning community. 5 So love the Lord your GOD with all your heart, soul and strength. 6 Memorize His laws 7 and tell them to your children over and over again. Talk about them all the time, whether you re at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning. (Deuteronomy 6:5-7) This time of year holds many special memories in my heart and it is a time of the year I miss my father the most. (I think of him all the time but miss him most in hunting season.) One of my favorite songs is entitled Granddaddy s Gun sung by Aaron Lewis. The song tells of an old shotgun handed down through the generations but it also tells of a boy spending time with his grandfather and learning more than just how to hunt he learns life lessons. As I listen to the song I often wonder, what do we pass on or what have we passed on to others, no matter what age that generation may be? Like the shotgun in the song, it s handed down with love and with time spent learning how to use it and in that a relationship is formed between two individuals. I wonder if we would just hand someone a Bible or would we help them to learn what it means? Will we establish a relationship with them and GOD that will never be forgotten? In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, how do parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles find time to talk about our faith to the children in our lives? As they are shuttled between school, music lessons, swimming class, birthday parties, sports, doctor s appointments, etc. how do we find time to encourage them through the ups and downs of growing up, to turn to GOD for guidance? Do we intentionally carve out time to talk to our children, or to others about GOD and how He can be their lifelong friend? At this time of year, when families seem to have more time for each other, and folks are friendlier than usual, Christians, and parents, should be willing to pass on to others The Greatest Story Ever Told, the story of Jesus the Messiah. We, as children of God, should be grateful that 28 we were given a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And in this kingdom, we please GOD by worshipping Him and by showing Him great honor and respect. (Hebrews 12:28) May God bless each of you. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Love, Your brother in Christ Jesus Pastor D
