Sunday, February 11 Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time O Christ Jesus, when all is darkness and we feel our weakness and helplessness, give us the sense of Your presence, Your love, and Your strength. Help us to have perfect trust in Your protecting love and strengthening power, so that nothing may frighten or worry us, for, living close to You, we shall see Your hand, Your purpose, Your will through all things. By Saint Ignatius of Loyola

Sheil's 2018 Vision Keeper Aireale Joi Rodgers Interfaith Action of Evanston, IL brings together communities of faith and spirit to serve people who are hungry & homeless. IAE's annual fund raising dinner celebrates leaders who exemplify their organization's ministries and mission referred to as "Vision Keepers." Aireale Joi Rodgers is a master s student in the learning sciences program at Northwestern University. She also completed her ungraduate studies at Northwestern in Education and Social Policy. Aireale's focus is in educating and supporting non-dominate students by developing inclusive and expansive classroom learning environments and equity-oriented faculty professional development programs at white serving institutions of higher education. At the Sheil Catholic Center, she has served in many leadership positions; Secretary of the Leadership Council, sponsor in our RCIA program, Purple Pantry organizer (distributing groceries to students who experience hunger due to financial constraints), JustFaith participant (year- long peace and justice service learning program at Sheil.) Aireale is also a member of Northwestern University s Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Committee and Black History Program at Northwestern. Last year Aireale organized a panel discussion "Being My Siblings Keeper, A Dialogue on Race, Policing and the Christian Call to Action" here at Sheil as part of Black History Month. Aireale is a valued member of our community. Her inspiring leadership and service to others is both passionate and engaging. As a leader and example of Catholic faith and service, Aireale is integral in helping our associates and students envision ways that our Center can continue to improve in faith and formation. Her passion for peace and justice and her ability to lead others in conversation, Catholic thought and active outreach to those- in- need is outstanding. Aireale was raised by her mother, grandmother, and great aunt on Chicago s south side and she considers her greatest strength to be her faith in God. We are blessed to have her in our community; she is a person of integrity and a model of Christ s Love in the world. We are very proud and honored that she is receiving the 2018 Vision Keeper Award. If you would like to celebrate with Aireale and the other Vision Keepers from Evanston's faith communities, their annual benefit is Sunday, February 18. For more information, contact Rita Bailey at Ritabeee@gmail.com.

For fifteen years, the Sheil Catholic Center has sponsored an international service trip for our undergraduate students to San Jose de Cusmapa, Nicaragua where we work in collaboration with LaFamilia de Padre Fabretto. We are excited to open this opportunity up to associates and young adults. Kevin Marinacci, CEO of Fabretto is a Sheil and NU alum, Kellogg MBA, 1996. Sheil's partnership with Fabretto stems from our special relationship with Kevin. Applications (due April 1) and additional information are now available online at http://bit.ly/2n7womc. Contact Cindy Ulrich with questions culrich.sheilcatholiccenter@gmail.com. CRS Rice Bowl helps us encounter Lent. Please pick up a kit in the Commons and "Share the Journey" with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are called to love our neighbor. But, like the scholar in the scripture passage, we may find ourselves wondering, Who is my neighbor? This Lent, CRS Rice Bowl Catholic Relief Services Lenten faith-in-action program, will help us answer that question. We urge you to visit their website www.crsricebowl.org/about, and follow along with the reflections and prayers for a deeper and transforming Lenten experience. We also invite you to go to pick up one of our Lenten calendars to find out what we have to offer right here at Sheil. Copies are in the Commons and on our website.
