TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST ANDREW- APOSTLE November 30, 2014 TROPAR: From on high you descended, O gentle hearted Lord. You accepted burial for three days so that you might free us from all suffering. O Lord, our life and resurrection, glory to you. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever and ever. Amen. KONDAK: When you arose from the grave, you lifted up all the dead. You resurrected Adam, and Eve exults in your resurrection. The ends of the world celebrate your rising from the dead, O most merciful Lord. PROKIMEN: Pray and give praise to the Lord, our God. Verse: God is known in Judea; his name is great in Israel. A reading from St. Paul's Epistle to the Ephesians (4:1-6) Brethren, I, then, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another through love, striving to preserve the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace: one body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. ALLELUIA: Come let us rejoice in the Lord; let us shout with joy to God, our Savior. Alleluia (3). Let us go into his presence giving thanks; let us sing psalms to him with joy. Alleluia. (3).
GOSPEL Luke 10:25-37 At that time an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. Teacher, he asked, what must I do to inherit eternal life? What is written in the Law? he replied. How do you read it? He answered, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind ; and, Love your neighbor as yourself. You have answered correctly, Jesus replied. Do this and you will live. But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, And who is my neighbor? In reply Jesus said: A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. Look after him, he said, and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have. Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers? The expert in the law replied, The one who had mercy on him. Jesus told him, Go and do likewise. COMMUNION VERSE: Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise Him in the highest. Alleluia. (3)
