27th Sunday In Ordinary Time October 7, 2018 FROM THE DESK OF FR. FALLON Hi Everyone! Hope you're all having a good start to October. It's a shame there's no postseason baseball for us! A couple of things happening this weekend: --Second Collection for the Permanent Deaconate: We're blessed in the Archdiocese with many deacons who help minister to us. These men undergo extensive training, much like that of men training for the priesthood. Can you help defer the cost of their education? We appreciate it greatly! --Tootsie Roll Drive this weekend: The Knights of Columbus will be selling Tootsie Rolls after masses in support of those who suffer from mental disabilities. This is one of the long-standing drives by the Knights; it's one I'm edified by greatly. PLEASE take the candy if you donate so I'm not stuck with them. I'm thinking of my poor teeth and waistline! --Priesthood Convocation: After Sunday masses I'll be heading down to the Lake for our Priesthood Convocation. Every four years the priests of the Archdiocese spend a week in conference and fraternity. This will be my second convocation; I'm excited! Please say a prayer for us this week as there is much to discuss about brotherhood and how we can help to heal our fractured Church. Because of Convocation we will not have masses Monday--Friday. Deacon Bob will perform Communion services at 8:00 A.M. --BELLS: You may have heard our new bells last weekend! Thanks very much for your support in making them a reality! My apologies for the bells going off in the middle of the night on September 29th and 30th; we had to learn the system and made a mistake. Hope it didn't "take a toll" on your sleep!! Prayers for you all! Fr. Fallon
