As we begin a new Liturgical year, Advent is a wonderful time to review and put into action the Dos and Dont s of Mass Etiquette, and to remind ourselves that we are in the presence of God and His Holy Angels during the Mass. PLEASE.. 1. Do bow your head at the names of Jesus, Mary and the Holy Trinity. 2. Do genuflect upon entering or leaving your pew, or when passing by the tabernacle. 3. Do strike your breast at the words of through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. 4. Do make a bow from the waist during the Creed at the words, by the power of the Holy Spirit. 5. Do bow your head, if standing to receive Holy Communion, before communicating. 6. Do respond Amen when the minister of Holy Communion says the Body of Christ and the Blood of Christ. 7. Do check your hands for Sacred Particles if receiving Holy Communion in your hands. 8. Do reverence the Precious Blood with a bow even if you are not receiving from the chalice. 9. Do take children in need of special attention to the vestibule where you can now both see and hear the Mass. 10. Do participate in the Mass even if you are in the vestibule. 11. Do remain silent in the church before and after Mass (talk in the vestibule, outside or in the social hall). 12. Do not extend your hands toward the priest when saying, And with your Spirit. 13. Do not hold hands or extend your hands during the praying of the Our Father. 14. Do not bow your head before receiving Holy Communion if you are kneeling to receive. Kneeling is the traditional sign of reverence for receiving Holy Communion. To bow your head when receiving Holy Communion kneeling is redundant and lessens the significance of kneeling. 15. Do not allow your children to stand on the kneeling pad. Either have them stand on the step or kneel on the pad. 16. Do not enter or leave the church during the homily or during the Eucharistic Prayer. If you must leave during either, then do not re-enter until they have concluded. Wait in the vestibule. 17. Do not visit in the vestibule during Mass and do not allow children to behave in the vestibule of the church as if it were a nursery. THANK YOU!! 5

Seven Christmas Movies with a Pro-Life Message, By Mary Kizior Every family has favorite Christmas movies that its members watch year after year. Because the birth of Christ is one of the most pro-life holidays of the year, it is important to recognize the gift of every human person at Christmas. Family movie night is a perfect way to teach your family that all human beings are a gift from God. Here at the Culture of Life Studies Program we have put together a list of some of our favorite films that not only share the Christmas message, but that also support the message that every human person is a beautiful gift. 1. It s a Wonderful Life (1946) 2. The Small One (1978) 3. The Ultimate Gift (2006) 4. Mary of Nazareth (2012) 5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966) 6. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964) 7. A Christmas Carol (1951) Show the members of your family how to live out the culture of life during the holidays by forgiving past offenses, seeking reconciliation with estranged family members and rejoicing in the blessings that each person brings to the family. Let us celebrate this holy season with joy at our Savior s birth, remembering that He came as a complete gift of Himself so that we might have eternal life.
