We celebrate this mission daily in prayer, liturgy, sacraments and life. Happy Thanksgiving! Bless the LORD, my soul; all my being, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, my soul; and do not forget all his gifts, Who pardons all your sins, and heals all your ills, Who redeems your life from the pit, And crowns you with mercy and compassion, Who fills your days with good things, So your youth is renewed like the eagle s. Psalm 103 At this time of year, our minds are directed to the many ways in which we are blessed. We recently celebrated All Souls Day, and this past week we celebrated our Veterans. Those two occasions alone would give us enough to fill our prayer time each day. Now we come to this time of year with Thanksgiving and Christmas when we again focus our thoughts on the many good gifts we have and how we have been blessed. Our lives, our families, our faith, our freedom, are all special and things we must always be thankful for. For some, this will be a hard time as memories of loved ones no longer here come to mind. It is our call to lift them up and comfort them. We all know someone who struggles with the loss of a loved one. May we reach out at this time to help them. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Phillipians 4:6-7 Please join us for Mass on Thanksgiving Day so we may all gather to give thanks to our loving God. I pray that you will enjoy a wonderful time wherever you are this Thanksgiving Day. I will close with the first reading for Mass on Thanksgiving Day: And now, bless the God of all, who has done wondrous things on earth; Who fosters people's growth from their mother's womb, and fashions them according to his will! May he grant you joy of heart and may peace abide among you; May his goodness toward us endure in Israel. Sirach 50:22-24

PRINCIPAL S CORNER Student Writing: Engagement I am engaged when I am building. -Marco, Pre-K I was engaged when I was playing soccer. -Henry, Kinder I was engaged at the pumpkin patch because I liked the tour guide s speech about pumpkins. -Issa, 1 st grade When I was engaged, I was at horse camp. I got to ask questions and I was so engaged. -Mercedes, 2 nd grade This science activity is engaging because we can watch the fish swim and explore. It makes me feel connected to the fish. It is also fun to name your fish. We named our snail Hyperdrive because he moves around the whole entire fish tank and it was very fun to look at. -Nolan, 3 rd grade This project is not like school. It s more like playing with a pet. It s engaging because it s like getting a friend. It s also interesting seeing how much the snail can move (5 inches) so far. Niall, 4 th grade I am engaged when I am doing my gymnastics routines. I just always go into my mind and block out everything around me except the music. - Kate, 5 th grade I am engaged when I play the piano because I have to focus on the notes and how to make it sound good. I feel happy when I play the piano. I learn to play better and focus more. I also learn to play more difficult music. - Wyatt, 6 th grade I am always engaged when I am on the football field and playing a game, especially when it s a big game. I knew I was engaged because anything that I could hear that wasn t on the field, I totally ignored it. I am always very focused on only the game and nothing else. -Jesus, 7 th grade I engage when I do my school work. I strongly engage when we have math lessons and when we listened to Romeo and Juliet. I also feel like I was engaged while writing this paper. -Jenia, 8 th grade 4 With joy, Susan Kilbane
