That the language of love and dialogue may always prevail over the language of conflict. TOUGT FOR TE WEEK Did you see that? When we see something odd or different, we just have to say something. It often refers to someone else s behavior, and we aren t usually very kind or affirming. If it were me or I don t know what they were thinking often leads to criticism and ridicule. These comments rarely affirm and encourage. In today s gospel, Jesus praises the deep faith and trust of the widow who donated her last two coins to the Temple. What courage! In other gospel passages, Jesus praises prudent stewards, good Samaritans, generous landowners, and responsible servants. I am sure his kind words did much to encourage those he was talking about and inspired others to imitate them. What a great way to promote good deeds! Since bad news sells papers and captures headlines, it s not easy to push the good stuff, but good news sure makes life more pleasant and Servers Lectors meaningful. At this time of the year, as the days get shorter and less comfortable, we could all use some cheering up. This would be the perfect time to accentuate the positive, to make a big deal out of the good stuff that is happening around us. When we see someone doing a great job, going out of their way for others, being extra kind or generous, we should let them know we ve noticed and point out their good deeds to others. This will encourage them to keep on and let them know their efforts are appreciated. But it will also let others see the impact a good deed or a well-done task can have and perhaps inspire a bit of pay-back or pay-forward. A good deed is so much more than just a good deed: it s a morale booster, an inspiration, a relationship builder, a good example and participation in God s creative enterprise. That s a lot more than meets the eye! Please see the insert in the bulletin this week for the results and list of winners! The Knights of olumbus will be attending the 10:30 AM mass in Franklin as a group and participating in the liturgy next Sunday, November 18. offee and donuts will be served after the mass in the hapel. All are welcome! One of the awful side effects of the state wide opioid crisis is the steady rise in child abuse and neglect cases in our court system. ASA of N trains volunteer advocates to stand by a child s side and give him/her a voice in an overburdened child welfare system that is hard pressed to meet their individual needs. Volunteers make a profound difference in the lives of these children. If you would like to volunteer please call Diane Valladares at 800-626-0622 or at diane@casanh.org. WINTER AT ST. GABRIEL S Snow ancellation: we don t cancel Mass because of snow. As long as there is one person in church besides the priest, we can have Mass. The rectory is just a few feet from the church (in Franklin). Tilton is just 3 miles away. Parking: We will clean our lots as soon as possible after a storm. Please be careful on the walkways and driveways. andicap Access: There are a half dozen handicap spaces at each hurch. Please leave them for those who need them and please park so that you don t take up more than one space. Use the ramp to enter the church: it s the first thing we salt & sand! Entrances: most of our entrances are cement or granite. Both surfaces are slippery and hard to keep safe. Watch your step! If you find icy spots, tell someone or spread sand or salt. There is a bucket inside every doorway. A lot of effort is made to keep the floors in the churches clean. Please make an effort to use the rugs at all the entrances to stomp and wipe your feet.
