ADVENT CHRISTMAS SCHEDULE Sunday & Midweek Next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise. The gift of language combined with the gift of song was given to man that he should proclaim the Word of God through Music. Martin Luther What we sing in Church has significance; it means something. Not only are we singing praises to God and proclaiming Him as the one true God when we sing our hymns, but we are also learning about who God is and what He has done for us. If you open your Lutheran Service Book to any random hymn, and look at the bottom right corner of the page, you will see scripture references. These Scripture references are what the hymn s author was inspired by to write the particular hymn. Through the gift of music, our hymns tell the same stories God has told to us in Scripture. This Advent season our midweek services are looking to the Scripture readings which have inspired some of our Advent hymns. 12-5 Midweek II / Confirmands Receive Bibles 6:30 p.m. Prepare the Royal Highway (Isaiah 40:3-5; Matthew 21:1-11; Psalm 24:7-10; Isaiah 9:6-7) Evangelism 5:30-6:30 p.m. (Maidrites, chips, and bars) 12-8/9 2 nd Sunday in Advent/Installation of Officers 12-12 Midweek III 6:30 p.m. - What Hope!
