San Felipe de Neri School corner HAVE A BLESSED ADVENT Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. LUKE 2:4-5 In this season of Advent we are preparing for Our Saviors birth. We hope to continue to join in prayer and ask for forgiveness to properly prepare for the birth of Jesus. LAS POSADAS AT SAN FELIPE DE NERI PARISH The celebration of Las Posadas has for many years been a special means of preparing us for the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ. This beautiful tradition handed down through the years is renewed each year in hopes that it will never be forgotten. I am once again soliciting your help in preparing the schedule for this year. I am so grateful to the many families who in the past have hosted the Posadas and the musicians that have faithfully played and traveled with us. We have many families in this parish and there is no better way of bringing meaning to the season than by hosting the Posadas at your home. I pray that more of you will offer your homes for Posadas this year. If you feel the calling to host the Posadas this season, please call Deacon Jose Lucero at 259-0254 or 345-7397. Posadas will be scheduled on a first come basis; therefore you need to call early so you will not be disappointed. Posadas start on the evening of December 16 and will end at the Christmas Eve Mass at the Mission of San Jose at Los Duranes. A complete list of the hosting homes will be printed in the bulletin on or before December 14. Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe The Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe will begin on Monday, December 3rd at 12:00pm at San Jose de Los Duranes Mission Church, 2110 Los Luceros Rd. NW. All are invited to pray with us. Hymnal Fundraising Campaign We have new hymnals on the horizon! This is an exciting time for San Felipe de Neri. After weeks of careful research, our liturgy team has selected a new worship resource for our parish. Beginning the first Sunday of Advent, December 2nd, 2018 we will be using Glory & Praise for Sunday Masses and other liturgies. Offering new songs as well as old favorites, it will be a very good fit for our community. By using a permanent hymnal, we will no longer have to purchase new books every year, alleviating an annual subscription fee. It takes a significant financial commitment to provide these resources, You can help defray the cost of the new hymnals by sponsoring one or more with a small donation. Take this opportunity to honor loved ones or commemorate a special event by sponsoring a hymnal. A memorial label will be placed on the inside cover of the hymnals. You can sponsor a hymnal for a total of $25.00. For more information, feel free to contact Erick Martinez, Director of Music an Liturgy at emartinez@sanfelipedeneri,org or 505-243-4628.
