The 2019 Mighty Men of Valor conference AKA Men s Road Trip will take place Friday, April 12th - Sunday, April 14th at First Baptist Glenarden, Maryland. The total cost of the trip is approximately $650.00, double occupancy, not including food and incidentals. This breakdown of this estimated cost is as follows: Airfare - $350.00+/- (Payment plan will be set up with Cornerstone. Further details to come.) Conference registration group rate - $65.00 (good until January 1). Each man is responsible for their registration. Room $65.00 per night x 2 nights = $130.00 plus tax double occupancy. Single occupancy $130.00 per night plus tax. Each man is responsible for making their reservation and obtaining a roommate if desired. Ground transportation - $30.00+/-. The next monthly Friday morning session of Iron Sharpens Iron will be December 7 th at 6:30am in the Multi-purpose room in Building B. We are studying The Measure of a Man by Gene Getz. The AWANA Store Needs Your Help! The AWANA Store is a special time of shopping for the kids participating in the AWANA program. After spending six weeks remembering Bible verses and quoting them to the teachers the kids earn points (as well as earning points for bringing their Bibles, wearing their uniform, good behavior, and more). Those points are converted to AWANA Bucks and the kids use those bucks to purchase toys, books, snacks, and more. We could use items for our February store. If you are out and about and see items (small and large) on sale, please purchase a few items for the AWANA Store and bring them to the church and drop them off in the AWANA Store box at the Connection in the foyer. The Safety and Service team is looking for new members willing to serve on the team in a variety of security areas. If you re interested please contact Charles Richardson at ext. 218 in the church office or via email at crichardson@cbcarlington.org. Mark your calendars for January 5 th at 11am for a Church Leadership & Volunteer Meeting. The first two hours (11am 1pm) will be for everyone who is the leader over a ministry at the church, all Connect Group (Sunday School) teachers, Elders and staff. We re asking all volunteers whom serve in ministries at the church to come at 1pm for an overall meeting. We're inviting all married couples to participate in our winter formal Saturday, December 8th from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. Childcare is available!!! The New Year will bring about an amazing opportunity for you to connect with God on a new and deeper level and Cornerstone wants to partner with you on that journey. Listed below are a few opportunities we hope you will take advantage of and participate in. We will have our annual church wide fasting and prayer days from January 8 15. We re asking every church member to fast those days and spend time in prayer, not only for your personal life, but for the life of Cornerstone. A specific prayer list will soon be available. More details on fasting will also be available within a couple of weeks. Prayer Breakfast Groups We will host a 24-hour prayer chain beginning January 11th at 6pm until 6pm January 12th. We re asking everyone to select at least one 30-minute time slot and come to the church for corporate and individual prayer in room #160. You are welcome to pray for a longer period of time. We will definitely need prayer warriors willing to come between midnight and 6am. Begin praying now about the time you will join us as we send up prayer for 24 consecutive hours on behalf of Cornerstone, our Nation, our communities, and ourselves. We will hold our annual Couples Prayer Breakfast, Singles Prayer Breakfast and NEW this year, a Teens Prayer Breakfast, Saturday, January 19 at 9am. More details will soon be available. Join us Wednesday nights in January as we focus on worship of the Savior and prayer. FEBRUARY 16TH We will need volunteers of every sort. More details to follow. New Year s Celebration Night of Worship December 31st @ 7pm Plan to join us Monday, December 31 from 7pm 9pm for a night of Worship. As the adults are worshiping the children will have a pajama party and movie night in building B. All children 6 th grade and under are asked to come in their PJs. The youth will have a special night as well. More details to soon be available. 8
December Sermon Series: Matthew 1:1 Mark 1:1 John 1:1 Saturday Morning Prayer Groups We re inviting all men and women to join us Saturday mornings for an hour of prayer from 7am 8am. The men meet in room #160 and the women in room #116. As the winter days approach, please check the church website and Facebook pages for any Saturday morning prayer group cancellations. If we have to cancel, we will have the option to host a Saturday prayer conference call. All details will be given at that time. Are you struggling with the grieving process? Do you need help dealing with the loss? Sunday, December 16 we will begin a class to help grieving spouses. If you would like to attend the class please sign up at the Connection today. You do not want to miss the Cornerstone Family Christmas Night and Concert Wednesday, December 19 at 7pm. It will be a night of Christmas joy as we sing carols, hear the Christmas story, enjoy a hot chocolate, wassail, and cookie bar, and listen to the musical renderings of The Kings Return and our youth and children s choirs. The night will be a blessing for families in need, so make sure that you plan to attend this family night of worship. 10 Please note that the church office will be closed December 20 through January 4.
