St. Ann s Parish 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time August 19, 2018 Well, we survived a weekend without air conditioning while our new units are being installed! I know it s been hot, and the chapel has been the same for the past week or so while installation takes place. (Believe me, we know! We have full street clothes on under two levels of vestments, so if you re hot we re even hotter!) As I write this the men are on the roof connecting our new system. I hope that by the time you read this they are all complete and our church is all fresh and cool again. If not, please be patient. They re working as fast as they can. Most of you have been very patient during the installation of the new units, and I thank you for your understanding. For the few complainers that we had, please remember that Jesus endured the nails of the cross for us; we can endure a little sweat for Him. Offer your sufferings up for the souls in Purgatory. That s what I was taught to do when I was a boy. Many places in the world have no air conditioning in their churches and no heat in the winter, so we are fortunate to have both. Of course, the new units were made possible by your generous gifts to the Renew and Rebuild campaign in 2017. Without your help we d have had no new air conditioners, nor could we accomplish the projects that are still to come. Thank you for all your support. It is still possible to make a gift if you did not do so. Give me a call and we ll help you out. Also, for those of you who made pledges, please be sure to fulfill your commitment. If at any time you encounter financial hardship and need to reduce or pause your pledge, please just let me know. Thanks again for all you do to make St. Ann s the great parish that we are!
