P A G E 3 ASSURANCE Truth is the very heart of who I am, so you cannot love me without loving the truth. In fact, for this reason I came into the world, to testify to the truth. I abhor lies especially about salvation, which is through Me alone. In this age of tolerance, many people deem it arrogant to believe in absolute truth. However, unless the gospel is absolutely true, it is not good new at all. If it is only partially true, people who trust me as Savior are to be pitied more than all men. From Jesus Lives by Lucinda Secrest McDowell Bible Trivia Did you know?... 1. Where did the Philistines live? 2. What was Moses mother s name? 3. Whose spirit did the medium at Endor bring up? 4. According to the Law, what parts of any animal are people not to eat? 5. Who understood himself as a voice crying out in the wilderness? The answers to these questions can be found on the last page of the bulletin!

P A G E 4 Plano Food Pantry For the month of January we delivered the following items to the pantry: 12 cereal bars 5 boxes of vegetable stock 2 jars of jelly 2 boxes of tea bags 5 pouches of Tuna 28 bags of rice 3 boxes of cereal 2 boxes of miscellaneous canned goods 40 pouches of juice 4 toothbrushes Wonderful!!!! You continue to amaze me with your generosity. Thank You so much!! For the month of FEBRUARY we have been asked to bring JUICE and as always thank you for your continued support of this important ministry. Nancy B. February Young at Heart At this point in time, we do not have anyone who has agreed to host the dinner. If you are interested, please let Pastor Dee or Jan in the DCC office know the details. Thanks so much! T H E L I N K

P A G E 5 Connectors What is a connector you ask? Actually, some of you might not have asked that, but I want to share with you my vision of a connector anyway. Remember the first time you entered Disciples Christian Church? Hopefully there was someone at the door, opening it with a smile and words of welcome. That is a connector. Maybe you needed help getting a walker or wheelchair out of your car, and someone came and offered to help. That is a connector. Were you a little lost, a little scared, and not sure where to go? Someone might have offered to get you a cup of coffee, introduced you to a member, and offered to show you where our sanctuary was. That someone would have been a connector. Those who are officially serving as a connector are usually asked to be at the church by 10:00 and to stay at the door until shortly after service starts. It is hoped that you will assist with wet umbrellas, wheel chairs and walkers, offer coffee and an introduction to a member and a brief telling of where the sanctuary and restrooms are. You are asked to serve no more than once a month, if that. Most of all, you are asked to be friendly and to personify the radical welcome of Christ to all who come here. Connectors come in two (at least) different ways. We do have people who have specifically offered to do these things, and they are vital. Every Sunday we depend on them to be there, ready to offer a welcome, assistance, and a friendly face to member and visitor alike. But every member also serves the vital role of connecting with each guest, with sharing self and our church with them. These are just as vital, just as important. Whether you are on the list of official Connectors below, or serve as a welcoming mem- ber, I am so very grateful to you. Connectors for 2018: Patti Boyer, Fred Hughey, George and Sharon Tung, Gary Snyder, Dave Bell, Susan Shaw, Joy Stoffer and Rebecca Nilsen If your name is on the list and you didn t want/expect it to be, please let Jan Carter (Admin Assistant Extraordinaire) know and she will remove you. If you want your name on this important list? Please let her know and after we do the happy dance, you will be added!

P A G E 6 April 8th! Rough Riders vs. Springfield Come and join us as we cheer on our team, enjoy hot dogs, chips and each other s company all for the great price of $20. The seats will be in the lower level and real close to home plate! Please let Rebecca know in the next week or two if you and any number of guests will be a ending. First Sunday Fellowship Over the last few months, we have gathered after service on the first Sunday of each month for a short period of good eats, good laughs and the opportunity to get to know each other better. Last week we had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with small bottles of water, and we have wonderful arrays of sandwiches, punch, cookies and cakes. But it is not about what the food is, or how fancy it is. It is the opportunity to spend a few extra moments with each other. In February we will not have First Sunday Fellowship because of Scout Sunday and the luncheon afterwards. We are looking for a host for March and July and beyond. Please sign up, and whether you do something as simple as bring a store purchased box of cookies and a jug of water, or go all out if they spirit so moves you, help us have opportunities for community, connection, love and laughter.

P A G E 7 Mulch Sales Have Started! Troop 288 is doing it again! Star ng January 30th through February 20th they are selling bags of mulch at $5 each. Delivery (and payment date) is set for March 3rd. A reasonable dona on will get that mulch spread for you also! There is a sign- up sheet on the welcome table where you can order as much mulch as you need! Feel free to add a bag or two for the church! Answers to Bible Trivia on page three 1. Along the southern coast of Canaan, including the area we know as the Gaza Strip. 2. Jochebed. 3. Samuel s. 4. The fat and the blood. 5. John the Baptist. COOL BEANS YOGA: every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7 pm We are a fairly athletic yoga group who practice integrating the body, mind, and breath. We have many different levels in the class and everyone modifies as they need; no experience is needed and everyone is welcome! We try very hard never to cancel so when the instructor is away, members of the class participate in leading. In order to follow Jesus and worship God: We will live and tell the good news of Jesus Christ in all we do; we will serve our neighbors; and we will minister to our fellow Christians.
