HOLSTON VALLEY BAPTIST ASSOCIATION From the Holston Valley Baptist Association VOLUME135 DECEMBER 2018 ISSUE 3

The 2018-2019 Directories for the Holston Valley Baptist Association are printed and ready to be picked up. If your church ordered Directories someone from your church may pick them up during our office hours (Monday Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm). We will also have some at the December Executive Board Christmas dinner, so you may pick your church s copy up at that time as well. If you did not order one, we have a few extras that may be purchased for $9.50 each. We are collecting used literature again to be donated to those in need. Please drop off your Fall Sunday School literature by Friday, December 7th. The Holston Valley Baptist Association has been assigned a Missionary Kid who is currently in the states attending college away from her family to sponsor throughout the 2018-2019 school year. Our student this year is Elizabeth who is attending The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Would you, your Sunday School class, or your church consider helping us in sponsoring Elizabeth? You can send her cards, care packages, or even email her a word of encouragement. If you would like her contact information and address for mailing please come by our office or call us at 423-272-7318 and we will be happy to assist you. The Tennessee Baptist Mission Board s Bivocational Ministers and Wives Retreat will be Thursday, January 24 - Saturday, January 26, 2019. The retreat will be at the Music Road Hotel and Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. There will be numerous speakers and breakout sessions. Speakers include Randy Davis, Steve Holt, Tony Rankin, Scott Shepherd, Mark Lemay, Roc Collins, David Evans, and more. The cost is $225 per couple which includes the cost of the hotel and three meals. The deadline to register and make payment is December 10, 2018. You may register online at www.tnbivo.org or stop by our office to get a registration form that you can then mail to the TBMB. For more information you may contact John Parrott at jparrott@tnbaptist.org or 423-921-2488. PAGE 2 MI SSION-AIDER

Hawkins County Pregnancy HELP Center By Kelly Snodgrass This month I attended the Lifeway Women s Leadership Forum in Hendersonville, TN. The conference was held at Long Hollow Baptist Church and consisted of various speakers and breakout sessions centered around women s ministry. It was very informative. I not only learned a lot but was also greatly encouraged. The November Promise Class was held at East Rogersville Baptist Church. We had a great time with Jackie Webb from the UT Extension Office. We discussed how to take care of your whole person. Jackie did a nutrition lesson for the ladies. Jackie is going to offer the entire nutrition class starting in 2019 for the Promise moms. The East Rogersville BWOM provided the meal and support with the children. There were 30 in people in attendance. VOLUME135 ISSUE 2 P AGE 3

LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING WEEK DECEMBER 2-9, 2018 Is not the festive season when families and friends exchange gifts in memory of The Gift laid on the altar of the world for the redemption of the human race, the most appropriate time to consecrate a portion from abounding riches and scant poverty to send forth the good tidings of great joy into all the earth? - Lottie Moon PAGE 4 MI SSION-AIDER
