Materials can be found at the doors of the Church. Almsgiving As a parish we pledge to share our resources with those less fortunate than we. Each week of Lent $500 from the parish collection will be sent to a charity. Parishioners may wish to donate to these charities privately. This week our donation will be sent to St. Jude s Children s Hospital. St. Jude s Children s Hospital is a world leader in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other lifethreatening diseases. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since it opened in 1962. They freely share the breakthroughs made, so that doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children. Patrick J. Griffin, CM The image of Walking with God has described the experience of human beings with the Divine from the story of Adam and Eve (Gen3:8) to that of Peter and the Resurrected Lord (Jn 21:20-22). It suggests closeness and conversation as we continue along our way. During this Lenten Day, we will reflect upon the fidelity of our walking with the Lord and the intimacy which is demanded during the Holy Week which we approach. The other meals on a fast day are light meals. All the Fridays of Lent, as well as Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, are also days of abstinence, which means that those 14 years of age and older are to abstain from eating meat.

We are always in need of adult volunteers to help during Religious Education sessions. Please contact the office to get more information and to pick up the necessary volunteer forms. REMEMBER ALL VOLUNTEERS NEED TO ATTEND A VIRTUS TRAINING. If you have any questions on the VIRTUS training or need assistance finding a training session please call Margie Lampert at the Office of Christian Formation at 785-0130. The best way to keep informed is by reading the Church bulletin each week. If you forget to pick one up you can always read the bulletin on-line on the parish website stbarnabasny.org. Once in the parish website you can click on the Religious Education website to keep up to date on what s happening in the Religious Education Program and have access to the forms and information for our program. As always please contact the Office of Christian Formation with any questions we will be happy to assist you!

March 1, 2015 Hi everyone! This is the page for St Barnabas Life Teen. I m Peggy Harnisch your youth minister!! Hi Everyone, We have great readings this week for our second Sunday in Lent. The first reading from Genesis has always been interesting to me. Here Abraham is asked to sacrifice his son and prepares to do that. God steps in and has him stop. God tells Abraham his descendants will be numerous. First we have the image of Abraham allowing the sacrifice of his son during Lent when we have God allowing the sacrifice of his son, Jesus. I love to focus on Abraham in this reading. Think about how hard it was for him to say yes to what he thought God was asking him to do. Although God would never ask something so hard for us, how easily do we say yes to God? This is a great time to really look at ourselves. Do I say yes to God or do I just think about what I want to do? What does it mean to say yes to God? That s a great thing to pray about this Lent. It probably means doing some of the things that bring us closer to God. This week my challenge, especially for our youth, is to go beyond yourselves and find a way to say yes to what God wants us to do. It will make a difference in your Lent! Have a blessed week! - Peggy Upcoming Events! Rescheduled - Edge Take Over Friday March 13th;7:00PM - 8:30PM Middle Schoolers take over the night!
