Gardens of the Righteous Class 7 11 th May 2014 12 Rajab, 1435 A.H.

The Garden of the Righteous The best blessing is when Allah guides us to worship Him. When Allah guides us to do good deeds and be close to Him then we get both the Duniya and the Akhirah. Many people are attracted to the Duniya i.e. they are happy when they get money, property, gifts etc. but the thing that we need to appreciate and thank Allah is when Allah teaches us even one letter or word from His Book as this is a great blessing and favor from Allah. Allah promised in the Quran that if we are grateful, He will increase us. So we must thank Allah when learn the Ayat of the Quran and the Hadith. The Riyadh Us Saliheen means Gardens of the Righteous. In life we must not attribute our happiness to our children, husband or jobs but the real happiness is inside our heart and it can be attained when we follow the Allah s instructions and the way of the Prophet SAW Garden of Patience contd No one is free from problems and the remedy that suits everyone is Patience. Only Allah is the One who will appreciate our patience. When we control ourselves from reacting, no one will appreciate our reaction but Allah. We must not run after the Duniya e.g. wanting love, happiness or appreciation from someone. When we put the worldly things behind our backs then Allah will make the Duniya run after us. Allah is telling us that things in the Duniya will not in accordance to our wishes. When we keep the Duniya in front of us then we will be disappointed. We should not make the Duniya our focus or our priority. The gardens we are studying will help us re- arrange our lives. Our priority should be Allah. We need to devote ourselves to Allah. This is how we will live in Paradise. If we devote ourselves to Duniya we will not get what we desire. Last week we studies Ayah 155 of Surah Baqarah, which is telling us that we will be tested through trials in the Duniya. The question arises does Allah want something bad for us? Trials/Affliction in the Duniya When something bad happens to us our eyes may tell us it is bad for me but our heart should know that Allah does not want anything bad for us. People go through different trials. Therefore it is very important to have the belief in Allah, PAGE 1

as it will give us the firmness. Our belief is our safeguard. We need to believe what we cannot see. We need to trust our heart and believe in what Allah is telling us about Him. We see bad things happening to us but our faith should tell us that Allah is Perfect and He does not want anything bad for us. So why does Allah afflict people with different trials? How do we understand this? We need to know that one of Allah s names is All Knower and All Wise. We see hardship but Allah wants us to go to Paradise. Allah does not want to punish or harm us. Allah created us for Paradise so He wants us to return to Him. When we go through trials, we return to Allah. It makes us realize maybe we did something wrong and the affliction is good for me because Allah wants to purify me. Allah is afflicting the people in order we will return to Him. This is mention is Surah Rome Ayah 41 Surah Rome Ayah 41 Here Allah is telling us all the mischief in the land and the sea is because of what people have earned by their hands. This is the consequence of their sins. Allah does not want bad for the people but all the affliction is due to the actions of the people. The evil around us is due to the people s reaction. PAGE 2

The trials around us are because Allah wants the people to taste some of the consequence of what they did, so they return to Allah. Our faith is our savior, as without faith we cannot understand the situation and we will feel miserable. Our faith tells us Allah wants the good for us and he wants to purify us. When we understand the concept about the calamities and problems it will make us to be patience. There is no solution to all the calamities and problems we are facing except patience. Allah is telling us that with patience you will get reward. Allah associates patience with reward. We want to be firm and do not want the outside circumstances to disturb our inner peace. Allah is telling us the reward of the patience in Surah Zumar Ayah 10 Surah Zumar Ayah 10 Here we are told if we are patience then the reward on the Day of Judgment is that Allah will give us a blank cheque. Any good deeds that we do the reward will have the reward in multiple of a number but for the person who is patient and who is holding himself and not getting angry, he will get a blank cheque as his reward. This tells us Allah loves patience. We do not get the reward for being patience in the Duniya but Allah is saving the reward for our patience in the Hereafter. PAGE 3

When do we need Patience? Surah Furqan Ayah 20 In this Ayah, Allah is telling us that in our life we need to be really patient when we are dealing with the different types of people. People around us are at different level of understanding, intellect, background etc. We need to deal with all of them with patience. Why do we need to deal with people with Patience? The Ayah in Surah Furqan Ayah 20 is telling us that Allah made us as tests for each other. The test for the husband is his wife. The test for the wife is her husband. The test for the boss is his employees and the test for the employees is their boss. We are tests for our child and our children are tests for us. The answer to all the trials is to be patient. We should not try to justify or argue or anything. In life it is important that we do not look at other people s exam. We need to look at our exam. We should NOT tell others that they need to be patient and they need to give excuses to us. PAGE 4

When we are patient with others Allah elevates us because Allah loves patience. Our goal is Paradise. Allah will reward people in paradise because of patience. Our patience is the key to Paradise. This will help us to overcome all the problems. What will help us to be patient with people? That Allah is all See- er. Knowing the Ayat and hadith will help us to build the patience within us. Sabr is like a skill that we need to master by looking at its virtues. Surah Shura Ayah 43 Here is it said about the one who is showing Patience (Sabr) (is holding himself and not even complaining) and also he is forgiving other people. We need to let go when someone does bad to us. If we do not resolve it at that very time itself then it becomes like a stain that makes us sad every time we think about it. Our emotions overtake us but we need to be forgiving to others. If we do not erase it by forgiving others then it will keep coming back. PAGE 5

Incident at the time of the Prophet SAW There is a person at the time of the Prophet SAW for whom the Prophet gave glad tiding of Paradise thrice. One of the Sahaba wanted to find out what deed / worship was he doing to get the glad tiding of Paradise thrice. The person replied he was only doing ordinary worship but every night before he sleeps he forgives everyone who were bad to him, as he wants to sleep very peacefully. This is not easy thing but he got the glad tiding of Paradise because of his patience. The Prophet SAW said our neighbors have rights. We need to do the best to our neighbor. Even if they are bad to us then we need to be patient with them. This is the right of the neighbors. This tells us we need to really patient when we are dealing with people. Hadith of the Prophet SAW The Hadith of the Prophet SAW gives us glad tidings. Allah inspired to the Prophet SAW these words that we need to know without a doubt that with patience there is a victory. The victory is 1. Over Shaitaan 2. Over ourselves 3. Over the bad companion PAGE 6

When we are patient we are defeating our enemies. We are defeating the Shaitaan, ourselves and the bad companion who are telling us to be impatient. The Prophet SAW said with any distress there is relief with it. Allah will not give us a distress till there is relief with it. With the difficulty there is ease (not after). This will help us to exercise patience. This is why Patience is one of the gardens of the Duniya. No one can understand this garden but the believers because it is the belief that helps the believers to be patient. Without the belief we do not have a reason to show patience. We need to understand that it is our faith that is safeguarding us. Our belief in Allah helps us to hasten to Allah. to be contd PAGE 7
