Parent Instructions for Who Wants to be a Missionary? Teaching Dear World Changer Parents, Below is a link to the Who Wants to be a Missionary? teaching. There are four parts to the teaching: Part 1 5 Great Missionaries; a synopsis of 5 major missionaries and the movements they inspired based on the THUMB unreached peoples acronym (T=Tribal; H=Hindu; U = Unreligious; M=Muslim; B= Buddhist). Each missionary represents a great effort to reach each of these unreached blocks of THUMB peoples : William Cameron Townsend Tribal; William Carey Hindu; Hudson Taylor Unreligious / Chinese; William Borden Muslim; and Adoniram Judson Buddhist. Part 2 Dr. David Livingstone and his passion to reach Africa with the Gospel by opening up the continent through exploration and commerce Part 3 Amy Carmichael and her compassion for the lost children of India Part 4 Jim and Elisabeth Elliot and their unwavering commitment to bring the Gospel to the savage unreached Auca tribe in Ecuador Each part includes a power point teaching, an informational handout, and a set of Who Wants to be a Missionary? game questions. The power point teaching and handout should be presented first, and students should take time to read over the handout and learn the information. In the game show format we used, participants could use lifelines. As in the game show ( Who Wants to be a Millionaire? ), the participant had 3 lifelines: 50/50 where you may remove 2 incorrect answers; ask the audience, which allows the onlookers to be polled using a show of hands to see what response is most popular; and phone Windee World or Dr. Living Stone, which can be any person you choose to play that role who has access to the correct answers and can help out the participant. You may have to help your child with the questions if they get stuck and provide the lifelines for them. If your child completes all 4 teachings and question sheets correctly, they will earn a World Changer Kids Missionary Candidate certificate! HAVE FUN!!! Let us know how you like it.
