For which cause the heavenly powers cried aloud unto Thee, O giver of life. Glory to Thy Resurrection, O Christ, glory to Thy kingdom, glory to Thy providence, O Thou Who alone art the lover of mankind. APOLYTIKION OF ENTRANCE OF THE THEOTOKOS IN TONE FOUR Today the Virgin is the foreshadowing of the pleasure of God, and the beginning of the preaching of the salvation of mankind. Thou hast appeared in the Temple of God openly and hast gone before, preaching Christ to all. Let us shout with one thrilling voice, saying, Rejoice, O thou who art the fulfillment of the Creator s dispensation. APOLYTIKION OF ST. KATHERINE THE GREAT-MARTYR IN TONE FIVE (**Let us worship the Word**) Let us praise the all-lauded and noble bride of Christ, * the godly Katherine, the guardian of Sinai and its defense, * who is also our support and succor and our help; * for with the Holy Spirit s sword * she hath silenced brilliantly the clever among the godless; * and being crowned as a Martyr, she now doth ask great mercy for us all.

APOLYTIKION FOR ST. GEORGE THE GREAT-MARTYR TONE FOUR Since thou art a liberator and deliverer of captives, a help and support of the poor and needy, a healing physician of the sick, a contender and fighter for kings, O great among Martyrs, the victory-clad George; intercede with Christ God for the salvation of our soul. KONTAKION OF ENTRANCE OF THE THEOTOKOS IN TONE FOUR (**Thou Who wast raised up**) The sacred treasury of God s holy glory, * the greatly precious bridal chamber and Virgin, * the Savior s most pure temple, free of stain and undefiled, * into the House of the Lord * on this day is brought forward * and bringeth with herself the grace * of the Most Divine Spirit; * her do God s Angels hymn with songs of praise, * for she is truly the heavenly tabernacle. THE EPISTLE (For St. Katherine the Great-Martyr) God is wondrous in His saints. Bless God in the congregations. The Reading from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Galatians. (3:23-4:5) Brethren, before faith came, we were confined under the Law, kept under restraint until faith should be revealed. So that the Law was our custodian until Christ came, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a custodian; for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ s, then you are Abraham s offspring, heirs according to promise. I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no better than a slave, though he is the owner of all the estate; but he is under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. So with us; when we were children, we were slaves to the elemental spirits of the universe. But when the time had fully come, God sent forth His Son, to redeem those who were under the Law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. THE GOSPEL (For the Thirteenth Sunday of Luke) The Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke. (18:18-27) At that time, a man came testing Jesus and asking, Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery. Do not kill. Do not steal. Do not bear false witness. Honor your father and mother. And the man said, All these I have observed from my youth. And when Jesus heard it, he said to him, One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven;

and come, follow Me. But when the man heard this he became sad, for he was very rich. Jesus, seeing him sad, said, How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Those who heard it said, Then who can be saved? Jesus said, What is impossible with men is possible with God. THE SYNAXARION On November 25 in the Holy Orthodox Church we give up the Feast of the Entrance of the Most-holy Theotokos into the Temple, and we commemorate the holy and glorious Great-Martyr Katherine the All-wise of Alexandria. Her mother was secretly a Christian who, through her spiritual father, brought Katherine to the Christian Faith. In a vision, Katherine received a ring from the Lord Jesus Himself as a sign of her betrothal to Him. Katherine was greatly gifted by God, well-educated and very beautiful. When the iniquitous Emperor Maxentius offered sacrifices to the idols and ordered others to do the same, Katherine boldly confronted the emperor and denounced his idolatrous errors. The emperor, seeing that she was greater than he in wisdom and knowledge, summoned fifty of his wisest men to debate with her on matters of faith and to put her to shame. Katherine outwitted them. In a rage, the emperor ordered all fifty men be burned. By Katherine s prayers, all fifty confessed the Name of Christ and declared themselves Christians before their executions. During the torture of Katherine, an angel of God came to her and destroyed the wheel on which the holy virgin was being tortured. Afterward, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself appeared to her and comforted her. After many tortures, Katherine was beheaded at the age of eighteen, on November 25, 310. Her miracle-working relics repose on Mount Sinai in Egypt. On this day, we also commemorate the Great-Martyrs Mercurios of Caesarea in Cappadocia; and Mercurios of Smolensk. By the intercessions of Thy Saints, O Christ God, have mercy upon us. Amen. Thought of the Day Only in prayer can we hear. Only in prayer can we understand. Only in prayer can we magnify the Lord at all times, and especially during this holy season of the Nativity. -- His Eminence, Metropolitan JOSEPH Holy Bread is offered by: Deanna Nasser for the health of Sudie Nasser and celebrating her 83rd birthday on Nov. 22 and in loving memory of Dale Nasser, Sr. and for the health of Dale Nasser Jr. and family, Dan Nasser and family, Paul and Laila Ferris and family, PJ and Jackie Ferris, Virginia Aziz and family, and all our relatives and loved ones.

Annual Senior Citizens Holiday Event The Annual Senior Citizens Holiday Event will be Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, in the Summit Hall. Those of you who have helped in the past know what a great event this is as well as much fun to help with. My dear Father Dale Nasser, Sr. and Godfather Peter Rizk started this event many years ago and we honor their loving memory by continuing to help those in need, especially during the season of giving each year. Our partnership with the Paso del Norte Foundation this year has been very beneficial! We participated for the first time in National Giving Day yesterday and out of over 200 charitable organizations participating who raised over $337,000 (a record for El Paso!), our Senior Citizens Holiday Event fund ranked 44th in donations made ($2,175) and 51st in number of donors (22 donors). Donations from 9 of our parishioners were $445 of the $2,175 total donated online. Organizations that won the various power hour prizes were both large and small. The Executive Director of the Foundation said some groups have become very targeted in their annual donor requests. For example, one donor gave $10,000 to United Way at 6am yesterday and they won an additional $1,500 for having the highest donations for that power hour. While perhaps we aren t going to compete with large entities like United Way or donors like that, we can build on this year and hopefully do more next year. This was a great effort for our first-time taking part in National Giving Day - thank you to all!!! The majority of all donations for this annual event come from friends, and business contacts of the Nasser family. St. George parishioners are also generous with the use of the Summit Ballroom and their donations. If you haven t made your donation yet, PLEASE do so by next Sunday, Nov. 25. You can give your checks to either Jamie Isaac or Deanna Nasser. Thank you very much! We will need help Monday, Dec. 3 from 11am - 1pm unloading boxes of food to be set up for packing the food bags. We will also need help Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 5pm on packing the food bags and carving turkeys. Last, we will need help Wednesday, Dec. 5 starting at 4:30pm preparing and serving the dinner to the Senior Citizens. If you have any questions, please call Deanna Nasser at 204-4245. Thank you much for your support and God bless you all.
