Women s Empowerment Sewing Project: Lutheran Campus Ministries/Step Center at St. Stephen s Lutheran Church. This program is to help refugee women learn to sew clothing and other items for personal use, to support others and to sell, along with improving their English skills, experiencing integration and learning about business. Classes are held on Fridays from 3-5 and Saturdays from 2-4 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Volunteers are needed as each week brings more women eager to learn to sew. Another way to help is by donating sewing supplies: sewing machines (in good working order), scissors, seam rippers, needles, thread of all colors, straight pins, zippers, buttons and other notions. Let s work together to help our new American neighbors! Any ques- Page 8

Operation Northern Comfort will be hosting SC59, a mission trip to Panama City, Florida from January 12-20, 2019. We are partnering with the Newman Center at SUNY-Binghamton and Operation Blessing. Panama City was hit hard by Hurricane Michael, and there will be a lot of cleanup work to do. We re looking for volunteers for this trip. The group will be leaving Saturday, January 12 from Central New York and arrive in Panama City on Sunday. We will be staying overnight Saturday at a church in Bristol, Virginia. The cost for the trip is $200, which covers round-trip transportation, lodging and meals in Panama City. The work will be strenuous but very rewarding. Space is limited. Volunteers should contact David Robinson, Operation Comfort Registrar at DRR1123@att.net. Norm Andrzejewski Operation Northern Comfort http://www.operationnc.org If you don t like something, change it. If you can t change it, change your attitude. Don t complain. King of Kings Quilt Group As the holiday season is quickly coming upon us, we need a cute ornament to add as a gift bow (that will not be thrown away) or to hang on our tree. With a little machine sewing and some hand sewing, these folded fabric prairie point star ornaments are fun and pretty. Many different fabrics or just one or two can change the look and make each ornament unique. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 4th at 7:00 pm to learn how to make some one-of-a-kind fabric stars. Contact Donna Huberty to get on her email list for more information as to what you need to make these adorable and gift-worthy ornaments. Page 10
