For: Sunday, November 18, 2018 1220 North Chester Street Baltimore, Maryland 21213 Reverend Marshall L. Barnes, Pastor The Great Flood Lesson: Genesis 7:11-24 GOLDEN TEXT: Every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground,...and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. Genesis 7:23 TODAY S AIM: To show the devastation that came upon the earth from the Great Flood during Noah s time. INTRODUCING THE LESSON: The Bible warns us of several things that will happen to the world in the end times. Some of them can be frightening. Some who read this lesson may be skeptical. But the Bible is not written to scare us or to frighten us away but to give us hope and confidence so that we will trust God. He prepares us for what is coming. When we study the narrative of Noah and the Flood, we ought to be reminded that God eventually punishes sin and disobedience. He also promises safety to those who listen to Him and obey. PRACTICAL POINTS: 1. God allows men and women time to repent because He is gracious (Genesis 7:11). 2. God places limits on the severity of His judgment because He is gracious (Genesis 7:12). 3. Obedience demonstrates our faith and places us in God s protection (Genesis 7:13-14). 4. God s hand preserves and sustains that which He creates (Genesis 7:15-16). 5. God is holy and cannot tolerate or compromise with sin (Genesis 7:17-20). 6. If a man does not repent, his sin ruins everything it touches (Genesis 7:21-22). 7. Sin brings death, while faith in God gives life (Genesis 7:23-24). The Church That Cares 11:00 A M CONCLUDING THE LESSON: Our lesson this week is a serious reminder that we cannot toy with God. When He gives directions, He is serious about what He wants us to do. When we obey Him, we will be safe. When we ignore Him, we face the danger of being unprepared and vulnerable to harm, whether physical or spiritual. It is good that we ask ourselves what it would take to get us to pay attention to what God says.
Farther Along 1 Tempted and tried we re oft made to wonder Why it should be thus all the day long; While there are others living about us, Never molested tho in the wrong 2 When death has come and taken our loved ones, It leaves our home so lonely and drear; Then do we wonder why others prosper; Living so wicked year after year. 3 Faithful til death said our loving Master, A few more days to labor and wait; Toils of the road will then seem as nothing, As we sweep thru the beautiful gate. 4 When we see Jesus coming in glory When He comes from His home in the sky; Then we shall meet Him in that bright mansion, Emergency Notices All emergency situations are to be reported immediately to the Pastor, Reverend Marshall L.
