(TY) Every time we have a Gathering we raise up our concerns and praises to God. I cannot tell you how many people are mentioned that have cancer and other serious conditions in their life or their families. I am sure that many are saying where is God in their situation. I am always finding things that I put in my Bible and I want to share it with you. Happy Moments: Praise God Difficult Moments: Seek God Quite Moments: Worship God Painful Moments: Trust God Every Moment: Thank God This is a very valuable tool for us to continue with in life. God is always there for us, we are the ones that strays from Him. God does not put you in situations that you cannot handle. When He gives you more than you can handle it is because He trusts you. We have some very important dates for you to save: August 12 - Their will be a Cookout Gathering at Hangars Episcopal (bring picnic foods to share}. Board will supply the burgers, hotdogs, and drinks. September 9 Eastern Shore 25 th Celebration at Franktown UMC starting at 4pm. Please start looking for the pilgrims to send on these amazing Walks. Rex Mayfield Community Lay Director

Page 2 A Message From Our Spiritual Director Blessings From Blunders SCRIPTURE: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God and are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28. Have you ever made a mistake? Most people have. The question is not so much whether we have made mistakes but whether we able to turn our blunders into blessings. The same is true with misfortune whether we are able to turn a bad experience to our advantage is a matter of supreme importance. Thomas Edison as he labored for 10 years trying to make his idea for a storage battery work, someone s blunder in his workshop burned the entire company to the ground and with it 10 years of notes and labor. Starting from scratch, Edison rebuilt his company and without his old notes, found fresh ways to attack his problem and came up with a way to invent the storage battery that are so prevalent today. It was the blunder that caused the fire that was a blessing in disguise. Charles Colson a former presidential aide went to jail because of his illegal activities. In jail he found the Lord and has since become one of the most energetic revivalists in the country. His mistakes at the White House landed him in the jail house and now he witnesses for Christ from house to house. His blunders turned out to be blessings. That s the way God works with us. We don t often do right the first time, but He s always ready to salvage the situation no matter how bad we make it. He can take our blunders and make them blessings if we will trust him as our Lord and Savior. The central thought of this verse is that we should focus on the final outcome of a matter rather than the troubling details of the moment. This powerfully short verse, when coupled with the rest of the 8th Chapter suggests that we as Christian should approach each event of life looking at the end rather than the means, confident that as long as we are guided by the spirit of God that all things would work together for our good and we will eventually profit from every situation not matter how frustrating it may appear to be at the moment. In verse 31 Paul summed up the central conclusion of the chapter when he says, What shall we say then to these things, If God be for us, who can be against us? With this knowledge and assurance concluded there nothing that should discourage us in our service of God, not prospect of life or the threat of death, the power of governments, fears of past failures and present trials, nor any other situations should be successful in separating us from the love of God. Paul s focus remained on the end and rather than the means. He always projected that we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Peace & Love Pastor Dave

Page 3 Eastern Shore Chrysalis Fly With Christ! Keep those prayers for Chrysalis coming. In recent weeks I've become aware of several youth interested in attending a flight. We need 12 boys for a boy's flight and 12 girls for a girl's flight. As a Chrysalis board we often hear, "if you have a flight we have someone interested and will send in their application." Well, a flight can't be held without those applications. So now is the time to round up your 15-18 year olds and get those applications in. The flights are scheduled for the weekend before Thanksgiving each fall. This year those dates are November 16-19. Also, community, be in prayer for where God can use you during a flight. It takes many hands to have a successful flight; ask God where He wants your hands. Thank you for your continued prayers for our youth and our Chrysalis community. Fly with Christ Denise Johnson Chrysalis Board Don t forget to bring your lawn chairs to our Gathering at Hungars Episcopal Church on August 12th! This is our Picnic Gathering! The Emmaus Board is furnishing the Hamburgers and Hot dogs and the Buns. You need to bring a side dish for a picnic. See you there!!!

Page 4 Outreach As we begin the teaming processes this month for our own walks in the fall, let us lift up the communities participating in weekends during this time as well. Our Eastern Shore Emmaus is getting ready to celebrate 25 years of amazing Walks and Flights. Please save the date and time because many will attend. Place: Franktown UMC Date: September 9, 2017 Time: 4 PM **We will also have a pot luck dinner. SPONSORSHIP CORNER! Just the other day I got to play with my 3 month old granddaughter. The only way I could describe it was JOY! God gives us opportunities to experience joy many times in our lives, so why wouldn't we embrace as many as possible. One of the Joys available to us in the Emmaus community is to sponsor someone and see what God will do! So if there is someone on your heart to share this opportunity with don't wait another day, talk to them now and pray them up! Don't wait till the last minute! De Colores! John Sutton

Page 6 Prayer Chain When was the last time you invited God into your world? When you do, he promises to show up. Anxieties come, but they don t stick. Fears surface but depart. Struggles come, for sure. But so does God. Prayer is not a privilege for the pious, not the art of a chosen few. Prayer is simply a heartfelt conversation between God and his child. The passage above is an excerpt taken from Max Lucado s Before Amen. In it, he reminds us that we are not promised a struggle-free, drama free, or trial free existence through our relationship with Christ. We are promised however, that through that relationship God will be there for the battle. We find strength and comfort in our relationship with him not only in His word, but in simple conversation know as prayer. I would like to invite each of you to join the Emmaus Prayer Team.
