Our Saviour s Lutheran Church Sharing God s Love with All! 1st Sunday of Advent December 2, 2018, 9:15 am Welcome - A warm welcome to all visitors and guests. We pray that God will bless your time among us with His Word and Holy Spirit. Young children are encouraged to be in worship and activity bags are available for their use. Please sign our guest book at the back of the church before you leave. We are so glad you joined us for worship today. Confession and Forgiveness. ELW Page 94 The assembly stands. All may make the sign of the cross, the sign that is marked at baptism, as the presiding minister begins. L: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen. L: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. Silence is kept for reflection. Most merciful God, C: we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen. The presiding minister announces God s forgiveness. L: In the mercy of almighty God, C: Amen. The service continues with gathering song.

Gathering Song.. Wake, Awake, for Night is Flying..(vs. 1-3) ELW #436 Wake, awake, for night is flying, the watchmen on the heights are crying; awake, Jerusalem, at last. Midnight hears the welcome voices, and at the thrilling cry rejoices: "Come forth, you maidens! Night is past. The bridegroom comes! Awake; your lamps with gladness take!" Alleluia! Rise and prepare the feast to share; go, meet the bridegroom, who draws near. Zion hears the watchmen singing, and all her heart with joy is springing. She wakes, she rises from her gloom. Her dear friend comes down, all glorious, the strong in grace, in truth victorious: her star is ris'n; her light is come. Now come, O Blessed One, Lord Jesus, God's own Son. Sing hosanna! Oh, hear the call! Come one, come all, and follow to the banquet hall. Gloria! Let heav'n adore you! Let saints and angels sing before you, with harp and cymbal's clearest tone. Gates of pearl, twelve portals gleaming, lead us to bliss beyond all dreaming, with angel choirs around your throne. No eye has caught the light,

no ear the thund'ring might of such glory. There we will go: what joy we'll know! There sweet delight will ever flow. L: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: And also with you. This is the Feast..Page 149-50 This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia. Worthy is Christ, the Lamb who was slain, whose blood set us free to be people of God. Power and riches and wisdom and strength, and honor and blessing and glory are his. This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia. Sing with all of the people of God and join in the hymn of all creation: Blessing and honor and glory and might be to God and the Lamb forever. Amen. This is the feast of victory for our God, for the Lamb who was slain has begun his reign. Alleluia. Alleluia. Prayer of the Day L: Stir up your power, Lord Christ, C: Amen. My Lord, What a Morning..(vs. 1-4) ELW #438 My Lord, what a morning; my Lord, what a morning; oh, my Lord, what a morning, You will hear the trumpet sound, to wake the nations underground, looking to my God's right hand, My Lord, what a morning; my Lord, what a morning; oh, my Lord, what a morning, You will hear the sinner cry, to wake the nations underground, looking to my God's right hand, My Lord, what a morning; my Lord, what a morning; oh, my Lord, what a morning, You will hear the Christian shout, to wake the nations underground,

looking to my God's right hand, My Lord, what a morning; my Lord, what a morning; oh, my Lord, what a morning, The Nicene Creed.. ELW Page 104 We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Prayers of Intercession (Each petition will end with P: Lord in your mercy ; please respond C: Hear our prayer. ) Sharing of the Peace Offering The Great Thanksgiving. They will have a final rehearsal on Saturday, Dec. 15 th from 9:30-10:30 AM in the church. They will present their Christmas program during the worship service on Sunday, Dec. 16 th.
