SUNDAY 8AM Jake Maramang, dec d. 11AM - Special intentions of John Spignese Our 75th Anniversary Year As we look back over the past year events to celebrate our 75th year as a Parish, we have to be thankful for the wonderful parishioners and committees who helped make it happen. First was the Mass on February 18, with Archbishop Gomez and the visiting priests who came back to celebrate with us. Then the fabulous food and festival following the Mass. The tours of the school by past graduates and Councilman Bonin honoring the parish with a certificate of recognition, and Archbishop Gomez also honoring the parish with a certificate acknowledging our parish s service to the community of Westchester. We have to acknowledge the third annual O Grady Golf Tournament committee and chair people who again made a wonderful commitment to this event in March and netted more donations to our Renew Visitation campaign than the previous year. In April our Holy week and Easter celebrations seemed especially fulfilling with the admitting to our parish the 13 RCIA members to the church on Holy Saturday Night. In May we celebrated our largest group of Holy Communion children since my assignment to Visitation and the class of Confirmation students who received the sacrament was wonderful. In June we had our graduation ceremonies and the students graduating were exceptional. The summer months were busy with weddings, baptisms and our 4th of July Parade where our school again won the best overall award. We also celebrated Truck Nights with our neighborhood and saw many friends come back month after month. September brought our children back to school and we began our renovations in October. The Carnival was spectacular with profits higher than ever before. Visitation is flourishing! Everyone can see the work being done on the Church, painting and brick replacement. The Patio is coming along well and our Paver sales at last count was nearing 300. Wow! It has been a busy and gratifying year. As I said in the bulletin the beginning of the year, it takes a village. Or in our case, a parish and I thank you all for your participation in any and all events of the past year and I look forward with you to see what the future brings. Fr. Jim THE GIVING TREE PROGRAM This weekend, you will find that the Christmas trees at the doors of the church have ornaments on them. Please take one and bring the ornament, back next weekend, unwrapped, with the gift named and wrapping paper and ribbon for it. These gifts are for the 1000 families that participate in the Christmas Party at St. Margaret Center in Lennox, California. Every year we help to supply the families there with 1-2 gifts per child so the they can have Christmas. We ask for your generosity by purchasing the gift and also if you can, contributing toward the celebration of a Christmas Dinner for each family. We would like to be able to buy gift cards for the local grocery stores and give them to the families also. You may also purchase the gift card from Ralphs or Vons grocery. Each year the number of families that fall in the jobless category and in need of assistance increases. This is our way of helping them and giving them hope for the future. Thank you for your usual and unfailing generosity. PARISH EVENTS 75th Anniversary Hospitality will be hosted by the Visitation Parish Pastoral Council and their families. Please join them in the Parking Lot for Coffee & Treats. A Warm Thank You to the school parents and their families for hosting hospitality last weekend. Pray the Rosary on Thursdays at 11:00am with the Prayer Group. Meetings are held at the home of Beverly Razzeto. Please call 310/670-6886 for directions and/or information.
