November 2015 January 2013 2 3 2016 ASE Sixth North American Conference Location: Michigan State University in East Lansing, at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center Dates: Mid-June 2016 More information and Registration: www.aseweb.org We are seeking proposals for papers exploring the theme of Cartographies of the Soul. There are many different esoteric models for understanding psyche or the soul: it may be mapped in relation to internal faculties like memory, will, and imagination, or in relation to as external things like the cosmos or the planetary spheres. Images of the soul may also engage musical or natural patterns, bubbles, rivers, trees, orbs or fractals. The array of mappings is potentially infinite. We are also interested in papers on Western esoteric practices, including theories, presentations and methods of practice viewed from cultural, practical, religious and aesthetic fields of inquiry. We invite proposals on magic, alchemy, astrology, ritual practice, mysticism, spiritualism, occultism, hermeticism, neo-paganism, contemporary esoteric movements and teachers, Asian influences on Western traditions, and other relevant topics. ASE regards esotericism as an interdisciplinary field of research and we invite scholars from all disciplines to share their research and writings in support of a cross-fertilization of perspectives. Our deadline for panel or paper proposal submission is January 15th 2016. If you wish to submit a paper proposal or a thematically focused panel proposal (with three presenters and short descriptions included) for review and possible presentation at the conference, please send it by email to ASE2016Conference@gmail.com An additional announcement will be forthcoming on the 2016 ASE conference, with information on location, hotels, and conference registration.

January November 20132015 3 4 Third International Conference of the Polish Society for the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality: Psychology, Culture, Biology Location: Krakow, Poland Dates: 20 22 June 2016 Abstract submission by 31 January 2016 Conference fee payment by 15 March 2016 Last-call fee payment (rates are 10 EU higher) 15 April 2016 More information and Registration: https://ptprid3.wordpress.com/ The conference will build a network for the third international symposium of psychologists of religion and spirituality in Poland. The two previous conferences held in Lublin (2014) and Gdańsk (2012), had researchers from various disciplines come together towards the common idea of studying psychological aspects of religious and spiritual life. We want the third conference of the society to share the same idea of incorporating an interdisciplinary approach, so we address our call for papers to representatives of various academic fields. We therefore invite not only psychologists and religious studies scholars, but also sociologists, cultural theorists, philologists, historians, pedagogists, biologists, cognitive scientists, philosophers and theologians of various denominations who are interested in the study of mutual relationships between religion, spirituality, psychology, culture and biology.

November January 2013 2015 4 5 The Jagiellonian University Institute for the Study of Religions and the Modern Yoga Research group invite you to participate in the International academic conference: Yoga darśana, yoga sādhana: traditions, transmissions, transformations Location: Krakow, Poland Dates: 19-21 May 2016 Proposal submission deadline 21 December 2015 More information: http://www.ydys.confer.uj.edu.pl/en_gb/updates The conference was conceived in response to the most recent developments in yoga research at various institutional levels. The aim of the event is to showcase and advance contemporary research on yoga. By bringing together an international community of researchers we hope to both initiate and to continue substantial discussion on the subject, taking into account the polysemy of the term yoga and the historical developments of the phenomena it designates. Yoga can indicate, among other things, a philosophical system, a set of physical, mental or devotional techniques aimed at achieving liberation from cycles of rebirth, union with a deity or ultimate reality, extraordinary powers or even bodily immortality. In the contemporary world, yoga also designates a globalized wellness practice, associated with notions of spirituality'. During this conference, we would like to focus on yoga in both its textual and performative aspects, drawing attention to the dialectical relationship between the two. We are also keen to discuss methodological approaches to the study of yoga. We aim to provide ground for interdisciplinary discussions involving, amongst others, indologists, scholars of religion, philosophers, philologists and linguists, anthropologists, sociologists, and historians. Last but not least, we are hoping to offer the non-academic public and yoga practitioners a nuanced, research-based insight into these complex topics. Questions: ydys.confer@gmail.com

November January 2013 2015 5 6 Location: San Diego, California Society for Personality and Social Psychology: Pre-conference on Psychology of Religion and Spirituality Dates: January 28-30, 2016 Abstract submission deadline: December 1 st, 2015 More information: http://meeting.spsp.org/psychology- religion- spirituality Religion and spirituality permeate many aspects of our society as well as of many people's lives. In this year's Religion & Spirituality Preconference we apply the tools of social-personality psychology to better understand when and why people turn to religion/spirituality and how this impacts their behavior, thoughts, and emotions. This pre-conference will bring together young and established investigators to discuss cutting-edge research at the interface of social-personality psychology and the psychology of religionspirituality. We welcome all empirical-based psychological approaches to studying religion and spirituality. The program will consist of invited research presentations, two data blitzes (especially encouraged for graduate students and early career academics), and a research poster discussion. Call for submissions: Blitz talks and posters. Abstracts are due December 1, 2015 to pattyv@unc.edu and authors should indicate if they would like the abstract to be considered for a data blitz or poster session. Any abstracts not accepted for the data blitz will be considered for the poster session. Applications should include an abstract of no more than 300 words and the names of all authors with affiliated institutions.
