Washington Street near Broadway THANKSGIVING DAY 22 November 2018 8:30 a.m. - Morning Prayer 9:00 a.m. - Holy Eucharist with Hymns Please switch off all cellular telephones and other electronic devices before the Liturgy begins. Also, kindly refrain from audible conversation to respect those wishing to pray and listen to the organ prelude. Thank you. ORGAN - Prière Ambroise Thomas (1811-1896) HYMN 290 St. George s Windsor THE ENTRANCE RITE GLORIA IN EXCELSIS Prayer Book, page 324 COLLECT OF THE DAY Almighty and gracious Father, we give thee thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we beseech thee, faithful stewards of thy great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of thy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

THE LITURGY OF THE WORD THE LESSON - A Reading from the First Letter of Paul to Timothy First of all, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human, who gave himself a ransom for all this was attested at the right time. For this I was appointed a herald and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. (2:1-7) Lector The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God. GRADUAL - In convertendo 1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, * then were we like those who dream. 2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, * and our tongue with shouts of joy. 3 Then they said among the nations, * "The Lord has done great things for them." 4 The Lord has done great things for us, * and we are glad indeed. 5 Restore our fortunes, O Lord, * like the watercourses of the Negev. 6 Those who sowed with tears * will reap with songs of joy. 7 Those who go out weeping, carrying the seed, * will come again with joy, shouldering their sheaves. Psalm 126 The people turn to face the Book of Gospels THE HOLY GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew People Glory be to thee, O Lord. Jesus said, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, `What will we 2

eat?' or `What will we drink?' or `What will we wear?' For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (6:25-33) Celebrant The Gospel of the Lord. People Praise be to thee, O Christ. THE SERMON Dean Vang THE NICENE CREED Prayer book, page 327-328 LITANY OF THANKSGIVING Let us give thanks to God our Father for all his gifts so freely bestowed upon us. For the beauty and wonder of thy creation, in earth and sky and sea, For all that is gracious in the lives of men and women, revealing the image of Christ, For our daily food and drink, our homes and families, and our friends, For minds to think, and hearts to love, and hands to serve, For health and strength to work, and leisure to rest and play, For the brave and courageous, who are patient in suffering and faithful in adversity, For all valiant seekers after truth, liberty, and justice, For the communion of the ever-blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints, in all times and places, Above all, we give thee thanks for the great mercies and promises given to us in Christ Jesus our Lord; To him be praise and glory, with thee, O Father, and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen. 3

CONFESSION OF SIN Celebrant Let us humbly confess our sins unto Almighty God Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against thee in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved thee with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of thy Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in thy will, and walk in thy ways, to the glory of thy Name. Amen. The Celebrant concludes with an Absolution THE PEACE Celebrant The peace of the Lord be always with you. People And with thy spirit.
