His insistence, even when the crowd wanted to shout him down, is a mark of courage. He was very focused and knew what he wanted. His request to Jesus is brief: That I may see. Bartimeaus prayer was rewarded with an immediate answer. When we are focused, we definitely will say short prayers, but when we are not, we babble as Jesus said the Jews do in their prayers. Like Bartimeaus, we pray that Jesus will open not only our eyes, but also our hearts.
"LORD JESUS, make my feet your feet when you want to go where you're needed. Make my arms your arms when you want to reach out to a hurting person. Make my mouth open as your mouth when you want to speak the truth. Make my heart love as your heart when you want to evangelize others through me. Amen!" We will celebrate 24 hr Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Nov 2, 2018 - the First Friday of the month. The signup sheet is available at the back of the church. We have been bringing priests in from other countries to keep our doors open. They are leaving their families and all that they know to come and serve in Canada. And yes, they are doing an excellent job for us; however, we need to encourage and support our young men who enter the seminary. St. Joseph Seminary currently have 45 men enrolled, 12 of whom are studying for the Archdiocese of Edmonton. Two of these seminarians we know and have a close connection to are Chad Miciak and Joseph Spiller. Both young men need our prayers, our support, and our encouragement. When you are thinking of them and/or are praying for them it is important to let them know. Write them an encouraging letter or simply send them a card letting them know you are praying for them. Some days can be very difficult for them during their discernment. Getting a letter or a card of encouragement can make all the difference for them in their struggles. Please mail your messages to Chad and Joseph - C/O St. Joseph Seminary, 9828-84 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6A 0B2.
