Advent Study Begins, Sunday, December 2 nd. Christmas always happens right in the midst of our chaos. God breaks into our noisy disorder and is made known in Jesus Christ. Join us this season for our Advent Study on Sunday mornings at 9:45am or Monday evenings at 7:30pm, "Bethlehem in the Midst of Bedlam". You may also register for this study by contacting the church office at (203) 336-0152). We recently started a new musical group at our church Joyful Noise. Joyful Noise is an opportunity to sing in worship with minimum commitment. Rehearsal is at 10:15 a.m. the second Sunday of the month. That Sunday we will sing a hymn or something familiar in the service. You can sit wherever you like during the service and come forward and sing (standing or seated), no choir robe needed. We would love to have you sing with us, please show up the second Sunday of the month at 10:15 a.m. The next Joyful Noise rehearsal will be Sunday, December 9 th. Come make a Joyful Noise!

Nut Order Distributions Nut orders are available today, November 18 th for pick up. If you have not had a chance to pay for your order, you may pay with cash, or write a check to Golden Hill United Methodist Church. All questions and concerns can be directed to Geri Floyd at (203-268-4899). Christmas Baskets: Can you believe it is almost Thanksgiving?! For all of you who might be doing some shopping this coming weekend, we will be handing out tags for toys to be included in this year's Christmas baskets. Also, again this year, we are giving the older children gift cards to Target and if you would like to purchase $10 gift cards, that would be much appreciated. When you are grocery shopping for your holiday meal this week, please consider picking up some instant mashed potatoes, instant stuffing mix and dry gravy mix. One final note, we are still looking temporary homes for frozen turkeys. If you have some freezer space, please let Sonya Green or Phyllis Machledt know pmachledt@gmail.com or phone number 203-268-8737. The Shower Ministry Items needed right now are: men s underwear size medium, and travel size powder. We will keep you posted as the inventory fluctuates. Thank you for all your support of this ministry. Weekenders Backpack Program While our cupboards are well stocked with some items, we are looking for many of our protein items on our grocery lists. All contributions are much appreciated, whether it is one item or several. Thanks so much for all you do to support this ministry. Helpful items we need in church by Sunday, November 25 for packing on Tuesday, November 27: individual pasta, ramen noodles, 5-6 ounce tuna, Vienna sausage, juice boxes, chocolate milk, peanut butter crackers and full size pasta. Thanksgiving Interfaith Service Greater Bridgeport Tent of Abraham will sponsor a Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Service today, Nov.18, at 4 p.m. at the Bessemer Center on 2200 North Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. Contributions of prayers, songs, music, etc. are welcome. Share our love of Christmas and celebrate Jesus birth together in a new way. On Saturday, December 8 th at 10am - 5pm we will be celebrating the Advent of Christmas with a display of personal Nativity Artwork in Locke Hall. Please consider sharing a personal or family Christmas theme object with our congregation! Your loan will be honored and displayed (under supervision) for all to enjoy and see in Locke Hall. We will receive your loaned pieces after Thanksgiving (before and after our services on November 25th and December 5 th ). Your loaned pieces will be locked securely until the show. Roots Bible Study Group The Roots Bible Study group will meet today, Nov. 18, Dec 2 and Dec. 16 at 7:00 PM Sunday evening in the parlor.
