It combines four major causes: Catholic Communications/Evangelization through which the Church is able to use media and technology to help spread the good news of Jesus. The Catholic University of America supports the work of this outstanding academic institution where many of our priests, religious, and lay people have received their education. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal gives grants to home mission dioceses and other missionary agencies in the United States and its dependencies. The Black and Native American Missions funds evangelization programs for these communities in dioceses throughout the country. Please give as generously as you are able. VIDEO PROJECTION SYSTEM MINISTRY The Worship Commission is introducing a new ministry. We are looking for individuals willing to operate our new video projection system each Sunday. Training is minimal, and operation of the system is simple. Please contact Wayne Efferson, Director of Worship at natwe@nativityparish.com or 490-1352 ext. 206. TAIZE PRAYER Wednesday, May 20, 6:30 PM-Chapel This contemplative style of prayer is a great way to unwind after a day of play, work, or shopping. Come experience the solitude. PENTECOST SUNDAY - MAY 25 The Easter Season lasts 50 days ending with Pentecost Sunday, hence the name. It celebrates the overwhelming experience of God pouring out the spirit upon the first community of those who believed Jesus was the Lord and Christ (Acts 2:1-4). It is called the birth of the Church or the birth of the church s mission. The color for this day is Red which symbolizes the intense love and fire of the Holy Spirit. Consider wearing this color on this day. Also, a special prayer, called The Sequence is used on Pentecost after the 2nd reading. The Sequence invites the Holy Spirit to come upon us to recreate, heal, and forgive and is sung in a hymn form. THE SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK - SUNDAY, MAY 31 Anointing will take place on Sunday, May 31 following the 8:30 AM Mass (9:30 10:00 AM). The next scheduled anointing will be on Sunday, August 30. The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament is offered to anyone in need of Christ s healing touch such as those who are in need of physical, emotional, or spiritual healing. Think of friends and loved ones who may want to receive this sacrament and invite them to this Mass. NATIVITY SCHOOL-AGE CANDIDATES FOR BAPTISM We are pleased to welcome Cassy, Chloe, and Trinity Penza (ages 11, 12, and 15) to membership in the Body of Christ through Holy Baptism, and to the Table of the Lord as they receive their First Holy Communion. Both sacraments will be celebrated Saturday, May 16 at the 5:00 PM Mass. They are delightful young ladies, students in Ashwaubenon schools, who have been worshiping with our community each Sunday with their mother, Regina Contee. For several months they have been learning the basics of the faith, studying the sacraments, reading scripture, and learning prayer in preparation for the sacraments. Please welcome them into our community of faith. AREA RELIGIOUS SPECIAL EDUCATION THANK YOU TO NATIVITY FOR HOSTING US! The Area Religious Special Education Program would like to express appreciation to the people of Nativity for your generous hospitality to our program. With the longstanding support of Nativity, our program provides religious education, sacrament preparation and adult faithsharing for people in the Green Bay area who live with a cognitive impairment. This ministry would not be possible without the caring presence of our outstanding volunteers, who serve as classroom buddies, ministry mentors and catechists. With love and appreciation we would like to recognize those who volunteered from Nativity; Father Jack Harper, Paula Jolly and Rita O Donnell. We are currently accepting registrations for the 2015/16. For more information contact Susan Shefka Peeters at Special.Religious.Ed@gmail.com or call 265-5210. 7
